Which vendor sells Diamond Eye?

I think Corsa has the best out of the box muffler for being quiet yet still perform...I know the MBRP I have is atrocious for noise...I'm probably going to swap a corsa muffler onto it...

I asked before about my BURB, and they told me that the stainless wouldn't bend very well into the tight radiuses needed to get over the rear axle.

I wondered if something like this might be an issue. I fear it might take a competely different program to bend the stainless into the same shape as aluminized. But I wonder if the burbs have a different shape over the rear axle because of the floor in the back? Maybe a pickup doesn't need such a tight bend? I'll have to call and find out...

Where can one find a glass pack that is 4"?

I like the Idea of mounting pre muffler like thethermenator mentioned

Not to thread steal or anything, i have the Diamond Eye kit without a muffler. In the truck its not bad at all, even with the windows down, you hear more wind than anything. However, when your standing on the outside and the truck is moving/accelerating it sounds pretty loud! Im usually the one driving my truck so i never notcied the difference. But i guess if someone looked at me they'd still call me a kid and thats why i like it lol.

Trucks don' suffer from drone like the BURBS do. All of that open space in the back turns into a giant speaker echoing any noise forward. Trucks with toppers can also get some noticeable drone from this reverberation.

I like mine. Still a touch of drone on some of my tunes with alot of timing, but very withstandable under most any condition. There not cheap, but worth it if you have a significant other who doesn't like a noticeable exhaust inside(outside though sounds almost like a straight pipe when I romp on it).

so we are saying the Diamond eye with muffler is great for trucks, but burbs need a little more? what about the straight pipe system for flatbed trucks? :)

I run a dump in front of my axle under my flat beds. Its loud! I'm thinking i will just put stacks in the 93 but Ol' Blue will get a diamond eye or full exhaust eventually.

My Dmax has a 5in Straight pipe Diamond eye. It makes noise on take off and towing but cruising its not noticable, I'm 24 and i like the way it sounds.

I would say this is accurate. I like the sound when I romp on it but its a little loud in parking lots. Plus the drone carries through the burb at highway speed. Still a HUGE improvement over stock!

Resto, if you haven't gotten anything yet, I have Kennedy's system. I wanted EXACTLY what you are saying about an exhaust system. I really like his system. I had another on there before and I had some droning at highway speeds - not awful, but some. With JK's, it's VERY nice. Let me put it this way... My wife has no complaints. I can hear it growl when I load it up, but other than that it's quiet. I don't know, offhand, what muffler is in there, but maybe he can sell you just the muffler? Note that his system is not a 100% bolt-in, but once I laid it out it was very easy to do the minimal trimming that I needed. The clamps/bands that he includes in the kit are REALLY nice! If you would end up going with his whole system, let me know and I can take some pics/measurements for you. He does include a good set of instructions, though.

Thanks for the suggestion DennisG01. I'll have to give him a call and ask a a couple questions.

I called DE and asked about a SS system. The nice lady who answered the phone said that it wasn't something they were likely to do. Even as a special request. I suppose they make them in batches, so you'd have to catch them making 6.5 systems and talk someone into putting 409 on the bender for one run. I also asked about a 5" tail pipe (muffler back) and again, not likely to happen. I figured as much, but it was worth a shot.

I sure wish I had a 5 inch tail pipe post muffler

I don't know about the trucks, but on a bURB a 5" would be out of the question. The 4" was pretty snug in quite a few spots going over the axle in mine. You may be able to use a DURAMAX exhaust as I know some guys swap in used stock DURAMAX exhausts to there 6.5's for a cheap upgrade.

I think there would be plenty of room in a pickup. I want it for two reasons. First, it deepens the tone. Making it a little meaner and a little less harsh. Second, the Magnaflow system I got for my 1/2 ton has a 4" tail pipe w/5" tip....my diesel needs to be bigger than that!

OK, so MF's site says 2.5" with a 3.5" tip, but I swear it's bigger than that!

In my pickup I currently have a 4" Diamond Eye system with their straight through muffler, which is a bit louder than I want, especially when going uphill with a load.

If I'm understanding the article correctly, I need to find a muffler that does a good job of quieting the exhaust and then get it in a larger inlet/outlet size, such as 5".

Does anybody have any input/experience with any of this?

Don

Mine is a 3.5" in/out. I have NO problems AT ALL with flow. I wouldn't mind having a larger pipe, but it would just be for looks. A larger pipe won't give any more performance - sort of a "diminishing returns" thing. What I might do is just put a bigger tip on it.

If you use the math in the article, you come up with this (based on a single exhaust pipe)
Now the article is based on a NA engine, turbos may be different, but I doubt that much different
3" pipe has an area of about 7", which flows about 800 CFM, which is good for about 365 HP before you get a HP loss
4" area 12.5", 1435 CFM, 650 HP
5" area 19.6", 2250 CFM, 1020 HP
I dare say a 3 or 3.5" pipe is more than enough for most 6.5's
If I ever get around to it, I have a 3" exhaust now, I would like to try a 3.5" Flowmaster type muffler with a 3.5" tailpipe.
I wouldn't go bigger if you want less noise, smaller would be what you want.

In my opinion and from my experiences, the smaller the pipe the louder it is at least there is much more snap, crackle, pop.

My exhaust exits in front of rear tire, it's way too loud for me, need to get the tail pipe away from the truck and point out rear corner,
