Over the years I have seen more and more convienance store chains without oil company names (even though the fuel is the same most everywhere within a region).

I live near a decent size fuel distributor and now that I think of it I don't see many oil company brand stores here (moved here ~6yrs ago).

I think its mostly marketing to avoid the stigma of oil companies making so much money. They make more money on snack sells anyway I have heard. After the BP oil spill in the Gulf at least one station here took down their BP sign and put up a Gulf sign (BP bought the Gulf didn't they at least most stations around here and I assume have rights to the trademark). Fuel is the same just a different sign for marketing.

I go on base and get my Diesel from AAFES. When I use there credit card I get $0.05 off per gallon. On major holidays I get between $0.05 - $0.25 off per gallon.

for me, there's an independant(no brand name) that I go to 80% of the time. it's one of the few who actually post the price. the price doesn't jump around and you still get full service.

Fry's with the 10 cents off or more per gal or have it delivered in bulk from Rev biodiesel.

Local Agro Bulk dealer... he goes through piles of fuel, brand-new tanks and equipment. I have cardlock there so I get monthly billing and a discount.

Murphy by WallyWorld. 95+% as good as or better price than anyone else, steady turnover of fresh B5-B20 (depending on season) and convenient.

Local Mobil station, they get a lot of truck traffic and the oil company, so it's usually fresh. When we're driving, wherever we can find it. Kwik-Trip has never served me wrong.

The Exxon on the way to work has diesel $.20 cheaper than anywhere else around that I know of thats not too far out of the way.

Racetrac...they always have the lowest prices around these parts...sometimes WalMart(Murphy) tries to compete by beating them by a penny or two...

I buy mine at Kroger. I also shop there so at the end of the month I usually have about 200 points which means $.20 off each gallon. $3.98 is way better than $4.18 per gallon! If I could get the rest of the family to shop there I could get up to $1.00 off per gallon, but that's a 1000 pts ($1.00 = 1pt). Sometimes they offer double points.....WoooWhoooo!!! :D

Home Depot was doing a deal like that also... Few months ago dad filled his truck up for $2.00 (yes, two dollars). I'm assuming he bought a ton of merchandise with his card for that to happen...
