I gave my 1995 GMC 1500 for a Hi School graduation present to my son, so I went and bought a 2000 Chevy 3500 6.5 TD and have a few questions on turbo parts : whats this thing on the intake of the TC? do I need it?

I've seen a number of 6.5 TD and none of them have this cover, it looks like it's just something to get in the way of were I want to go to change filters, sensors etc

Oh and these are my two puppies, aren't they cute?

It tells you when your air filter is plugged, Its kind of a Diesel thing, as far as the cover most take it off as it keeps heat on the IP and thats not a good thing, but once you move your PMD its fine to leave it there

Plug the hood light in - you may need it at night on the side of the road.

That is too clean for a 6.5 :hihi:

I wanna see the rest of the truck. :agreed:

just another 2wd 6.5TD 2000 chevy 3500 long bed 127k miles and beat up a bit. everything works.....for now. It rides like a brick on skates. feel every little rock on the road. I just found out my tire pressure is 80PSI. I'm going to sell it

Unless you're towing heavy drop the rear tire pressure to about 45 psi, you won't believe the dif. I refill mine when I know I will be towing a heavy load. Under 20k gvw I don't bother. I had 36k gvw and only had 65 psi in the rears, depends on what the truck sees.

sounds like my ride when it's empty. back the tires pressure down to 50-60 psi and the ride will improve alot. mine only calls for 40psi in the rear with 3 guys and 500lbs cargo.

Thats about $8000? Hey Nvw I just put 60 lbs n my tires n they arent that bad but the ride is not as nice. U reckon I could drop my pressure for The Trip?

I want 4000 firm, tires are good, fresh inspection sticker. no holes except the ones the previous owner put in, he use a damn electrical box knockout tool to put a hole in the back of the cab to run cable that has since been removed. got a rubber ball duct taped in until I get a proper plug for it.

For what you're towing Bill you could drop it, but you will likely get better mileage with the higher pressure. Whats the camper weigh? It's actual weight on the truck that I am concerned with.

Gonna mount the slide in camper tomorrow Nvw so I will let u know the weight before I leave. Sorry about hijackin the thread Drago. Where r u Va Dravo, I am headed there on the first leg of The Trip, going to Saltville Va to c the old folks.

Sandston, about 10 miles from RIC, you'd take exit 205 on 64 to get to my house
