What have you done to your 6.2/6.5 today?

Working on the suburban putting in the O.E. Cd player that member Paveltolz got me, hoping it would a plug & play but there was no wires there and due to lack of concentration & fatigue as I have just returned from the USA, I manage to break the hazard warning switch, now there's to much "blinker fluid", :skep: so I started on the putting on the new rear shocks, that I can use my manpower with out I hope no damage. :)

AFE Mod, Raam Audio sound deadening pannel instal

AFE MOD
To further isolate the cold air from the fender to the AFE set up and reduce the infiltration of hot air from the engine coming around the front and rear of the box, I cut up a couple of plastic lids from storage bins after using cardboard to mock up the pieces. After fitment, painted them black, edged them with scrap fuel line pieces to prevent the edges from chaffing or cutting the radiator return line and now the unit is pretty much sealed off from the engine.

With the wife's help, removed the hood and cleaned the underside. After waiting over night for it all to dry, I went at it attempting to get the material installed. Went fairly easy with the hardest part being the molding the material to the inside arcs in the corners/valley's created by the cross members. Sort of reminds me of the Lunar Lander's exterior. Hood feels solid now.

I'll pick up a molded hood liner to place over the material to restore a more stock appearance later.

Replaced the Starter before it went out. Never replaced a starter before, so I took my time, and ensured everything went back and all parts accounted for. Painted the bracket bright RED so I can easily see that it is still where it belongs. Started on the first attempt which was a pleasant experience. This truck never ceases to amaze me in how realiable and, in hind sight, easy to work on.

Background: On my last trip with my truck to Heath's for an IP swap; when we were going through the restart process Bill and Todd asked "how long has the starter been making that noise?" I asked, "What noise? It has always sounded like that." I swear Bill hung his head and may have even started to weep! Todd just walked away shaking his head and muttering something about "noob" and came back with a new starter and said, "Well?" So, I bought a new starter to keep me company on the way home and once I got back to home sweet garage I put it on the shelf next to the Walbro, Wix Filter Kit, HID kit, iand radiator for "some day soon." When Ted and Paul R came through Ted ribbed me for not having it done yet. Anyway, it's done and boy, what a difference. Ear splitting cranking whine replaced by a nice quiet time start ups. Now for that other stuff....

Replaced the hood liner with a molded unit from LMC. Cut out the area for the hood vents using a template made from the old unit, which was falling apart. Looks pretty nice IMHO.
