Hi guys. I am curious what the optical eye sensor on a DB2 pump does. I have a 93 k3500 with the 6.5 and I think I am having injection pump issues. I was scrolling through marketplace and found a guy selling a 6.2 injection pump and after researching to see if I could use a 6.2 pump on a 6.5 I went a bought the pump. But I am confused now. Because the pump I bout it a K2 DB2831 4991 pump. Which if I am correct means that it is the bigger pump with the bigger plungers which matches the pump that is on the truck right now. But this pump has an optical eye sensor on the right had side that the pump on the truck dosent have. I have tried to research this but everything I have found just says that the optical eye sensor tells the ecu the fuel rate coming across it so that the ecu can control the timing events. If all it does is tell the ecu the timing of the pump essentially then could I put this pump on my truck to rule out if it is an injection pump problem or not? All of the numbers on the IP pump I bought match the ones on the IP pump on the truck except the model number. Can anyone help? Thank you!
