What do you think of your trucks Brakes?

Mine do pretty good with ceramic pads up front and SS braided lines all around. I would like a little more brakes from her, but they can still throw the wife into the dash when I stomp em.

Mine are OK at best. The issue I have is that the rear wheels will squeel like a pig and lock up when it's humid out. I've adjusted them but that's not the answer either.

They're as good as they need to be for a 3/4 ton truck that hauls big loads with nearly stock sized tires. Could big brakes and huge calipers decrease stopping distance? Maybe, but with a trailer full of horses, you don't want to stop too quick either....

Yea they suck, compared to my eldo, but beat my wifes 1963 rambler.

They are definitely better than cutting a hole in the floor boards and using my feet if that counts.

I voted marginal at best. These trucks are heavy, and need much better stopping power as far as I am concerned. My brakes are wearing well, but need more uuumpphhh.

Mine will put you through the windshield.. I will say that is one of the best improvements on the '11.

They were okay at best. Never crashed into anything because of them, but for a 3-1/2 ton truck they could have been a lot better.
For something that had pads and rotors that would practically never wear out, they needed a lot of maintenance. Rusty caliper pins, slides, e-brake shoes, etc.

As long as they stop my truck,i say they are the best(empty or lightly loaded)
Heavy load..,AFAIAC no truck will stop in time if one has to hammer down on it,no matter what brakes you got.

I've got 3 of these trucks, and my brakes are very different on each. lol
The '93 5.7 1500's brakes suck, rears have been a big PIA. The '93 6.5TD dually has pretty good brakes, not great but pretty good. The '97 5.7 Vortec truck has really good brakes.

13 x 3.5 freak drums on the rear and being a SRW 3500 regular cab, the '93 hauls down in a hurry. It actually stops better with a load of firewood! Empty, it will trigger the rear anti-lock

Not bad, not great. I need to take 'em apart and clean/lube them so they work like new again.

I voted "There OK as in not bad but not great." the only one that leaves anything to be desired is the 91 gas. it has shot lines on the back (think tire chains coming loose), so it is front brakes only. 91 diesel will about throw you through the windshield, all others do just fine. on all of them, I rarely use brakes at all, due to engine braking and downshifting. It must work, as I havent ever changed anything braking related on any of the trucks.

They stop the truck empty and I wouldn't give 'em much more than that. Never do they inspire confidence empty.

Loaded down it gets stopped, but nowhere near with the confidence I want. More than once I've found myself standing on the brakes harder than I wanted and still wishing for more stopping power.

I've been known to grab the manual trailer brake handle to up the trailer brake input when hauling the 35 footer more than I'd like to get the whole shebang stopped with confidence.

That's marginal.

Definitely marginal.......maybe even go so far as to say they "suck".....

mine did alot better with the ceramic pads up front. haven't had to change the rears. they rears work better without the limiting valve they put in there. and yes I have left more than one set of black marks on the pavement with them.

They stop me, haha. My e-brakes suck, and my current brakes are good, but they definitely improved when i disengaged the ABS.
