What am I missing ?

The newer push button 4X4's are very reliable, it's the pump rub issue that is the t-case problem and effects all of them. I forgot to mention earlier that many 01's and 02's have had head gasket issues due to the crimped multi-layer steel head gaskets wearing the coating off over time. Mid year 02 they went to the riveted gaskets and haven't had many problems since. If it was mine and it needed injectors I would do the head gaskets as well as the injectors have to come out to do the heads. Couple of other things to check before buying it is go out and get it up to temp(good and hot), then come back and let it idle. If it lopes that is a sign that the fuel pressure regulator is bad which is common on LB7's. Also injectors tend to show themselves more so when it's hot and idling in gear. Let it sit and idle for say 3-5 minutes in gear and watch the tailpipe for smoke. Injectors will normally begin to puff white or grey smoke at an idle. Also the exhaust will begin to get a raw fuel smell to it after extended idling. The next check is to go out and drive it after idling for a long period and see if it smokes blue, grey, or white when you first give it some throttle(get on it pretty good). When the injectors begin to go it will get unburnt fuel built up in the engine and when you get on it it will stumble and smoke as it clears itself out.

I know that the LB7 may sound bad, but it really is a good engine and still prefferred by many despite all of the injector problems its had. Plus you can't beat it for ease of adding HP.

At that price, I'd at least go and look at it. If I was serious, I'd ask to take it down and have the balance rates checked. Might cost you a buck or two, but it would certainly be peace of mind.

Insofar, as the push button, I have had it on three vehicles. The only one I've only had problems with, was on a 2003 Envoy. The solenoid had to be replaced twice.

Kenny, if you want to have him meet me somewhere I can check the rates with EFI Live. I"ll record the numbers, what is it that you normally want balance in park and balance in drive? That reminds me, I should check mine.

OH, BTW my cousin lookin at one similar and is looking to pay 6500. At least he thinks he can get it for that. It's a dealership he does business with on a regular basis and they want around 9000 for it.

A local used car lot offered me 15k for the Lemon. Maybe I should grab it and lick my wounds. I figure if they are willing to pay 15k it's gotta be worth atleast 16500. Man did I get screwed. How was I so Stupid. I knew better. Sparky, would you be willing to check the truck out ? I really don't know what I'm looking at with dmax and after the beating I'm gonna take on the dodge I can't afford another POS.

Sure, if you want you can probably have him bring it to my cousins shop and even have him throw it on the lift. I'd have to check with him as far as using his shop. He may say to do it after hours. Or I can just check it out on the ground and check the balance rates.
