Well, I stepped up to the plate and look what happened...........yet another project.

Comparing it to a duramax is just....... meh. There isn't a point. The duramax is far more powerful and much quicker. I do think that the seats in both my 88 and 99 (the 88 has seats from a 98) are more comfortable than my 02 or devin's 07.

Just you wait, this truck will reward you considerably for a couple quick modifications. With that exhaust and PCM reflash the performance lines will begin to blur. No doubt you can push that DMax to higher power, but I'm just saying the difference is night and day from stock to modded 6.5

Can we go for a drive tonight? i.e. Can I drive it tonight? :hello:

Gee ya could have made a little side trip between Spokane and Pullman ya know :D . Been awhile since I drove a GMT 400.

My true love however is still a '84 or '85 Chevy K20 or K30. Of all my vehicles I really wish I'd have kept my '84. Couldn't hold a candle to my '05 in regards to power, but it was kick ass fun to drive.

the 90's era GM trucks are a perfect mix of truck and ride. The older ones are a bit too much truck, the newer ones are a bit too little.

I'm about 95% certain I would rather have that truck than my 07.

Right with ya on the new trucks. I really don't like my '09. Trying to get the seatbelt on with my duty belt on is a royal PITA, never had that problem before. Cab setup just isn't comfortable. Don't know if it's just the way I sit or what but placement of everything is just off a little. Cupholder, radio controls, window and lock buttons on door, steering wheel angle. Not quite in the right place.

Nice buy! The truck looks really clean.. And even factory gm floormats I see! Little things like that usually show an overall care by the original buyer in my opinion. I'm sure you will love the 6.5 and nv4500 combo. That's what's in my 96 and I can safetly say that it's the one truck I will never sell under any circumstance. Good luck with it!

It is true, the GMT400 platform was where comfort came to be, yet they weren't loaded to the hills with unnecessary BS and tons of plastic.

Well, my 88 is just darn simple, but honestly I prefer the dash layout of my 02 over the 99. The 99 seems like it was kind of a transition, and in the 02 everything is IMO, where it should be. I do think the seats in my 99 (and the 98 seats in my 88) are so much more comfortable.

Yup, it even has the original manual, warranty book, diesel supplement and case. I also have a small receipt stack from maintenance and such done to the truck, and it has had normal services done, and all the small things that broke fixed, so it really was cared for. The owner was down on times and really, really did not want to have to sell the truck, she was very sad to see it go. I did assure her it was going to a good home.

that it did. your usuall fit and finish on your projects is quite good. now if she was hoping the chevy grille stays on.....now that may be an issue, from what I see you heavily prefer the ruby red letters over the bowtie! :)

What is the mod list looking like?

Well, you are very correct in the preference of the ruby red letters, although once this truck takes off the bowtie and becomes professional grade, they will be charcoal colored.

I prefer the GMC, but cant seem to find any 3500s or 3500HDs that meet my specs in a GMC..or a chevy for that matter.

My old man's love for GMC stems from way back when they were different, and GMC had the big block v-6.

Nice truck!

What's an Amsoil nano-filter? What makes them better than an AC Delco?

Also ditch that "turbo power" cover. It holds the heat in on top of the engine, which is bad for the PMD. That tube off the air intake that dead ends can be removed and the port plugged. That tube is nothing more than an air intake silencer tube.

I like the older style elbows without the muffler and muffler hole. They work well with the PVC elbows.

That looks nice. Does this one have a 9 blade steel fan and spin on fan clutch? A late 99 or a 2000 with the good cooling setup already would be nice. You may want to just put the restrictor on the water pump return fitting that allows coolant to bypass the radiator, because of the dual T-stat bypass setup.

A decent exhaust setup, and a PCM reflash and this thing will be treating you right. Amsoil nano-filter when you need one. And maybe the 3" PVC elbow intake mod, since its really cheap.

With the help of Devin, the brushgaurd was removed, factory bumper gaurds installed and the entire truck got a nice pressure wash.

Then the inside came apart. I think it had never been cleaned inside....

Also I took everything small enough and ran it in the dishwasher.

All carpet cleaned and back together. It came out pretty clean, I noticed a few spots on the carpet that need another go-round' with the cleaner.

Wow, nice clean up job on the interior, going above and beyond. Never thought to put that stuff in the dishwasher to the crap out of the vents and what not.

Its a dry filter that you can vacuum clean for 100,000 miles. It should flow like a K&N but clean like a paper AC Delco. And you get a discount from Ashton (Wrecker) the Oil Geek

Wow dude, what a detailing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did the D/W do? Did you stay away from the heat drying? I never thought about that either.... Good thinking!

Amazing how disgusting some will let their vehicles get. What a major change! I like the dish washer too, I used to wash my cup holder from the center console on the 93 like that.
How did you do the carpet? My buddy pressure washes them.
