Water injection question

I need advice on nozzle size. I am going to buy a system simply to knock the iat temps down if they start to get too high with the ATT. I am going to mount the tank under the hood so it wont be huge. I want it to be effective but don't want to use more water than I have to. The system I am looking at sells nozzles in cc/min, if yours is gph still tell me and I can convert it. Will be running water only.

I am looking at the aquastealth system with the solenoid. The more advanced systems like Snow/Heath and Devil's Own are much more advanced than I need.

i hope this doesnt sound stupid, im not up to date with technoledgy, what is the pro's vs con's on this system? and is it primarily for drag racing or? im just intrigued, and maybe a bit slow. just looking to find out what it is and the bennifits of it.

X2! That is really cheap!

Let me just add this while its crossing my mind. I've had way to many cases where I went after a "cheap part" because of the price. And 9 out of 10 times, I was the one to pay.

One of the reasons these water Mist injection systems cost so much is because of fail safe concerns. If your nozzle "fails" open, your going to be dumping water into your engine. Not misting, POURING. Should that happen, by you saving $200 on a lower quality or "cheaper" system, your going to need several thousand dollars for repairs on the engine should the system fail and hydro-lock your engine.

I say talk to Bill Heath and see what he runs (parts wise) with his Water mist system. then call this aqua stealth company and ask about there system. Compare the two based on what you hear.

Hoping someone will buy this thing and let us know how it holds up. That is a great price and I am looking to adding water/meth to my build.

BigBlue, I could be wrong but as long as the tank is lower than the injection nozzle, I would think that the pump would be needed to push water into the motor (no siphon action possible)? Especially where our engines are pressurized with the boost and all? One point though, I'm pretty sure ALL the kits out there use the ShurFlo pump, regardless of price.

I have talked to Bill a few times, once about nothing but WMI. His suburban has a 50 gallon water tank and he starts injecting water a 2 psi. His system and the Devils Own use electronic progressive controllers. The Devil's own controller is 155.00 by itself. The controllers allow you to increase the amount of water with boost pressure. I don't think I need anything that sophisticated. I just want something that will kick on at X psi and back off when it drops below that to keep iat in check on long hard pulls or when I'm just playing. The aquastealth kit is also on Ebay. The one on Ebay includes a led to let you know when it is spraying and the shipping is slightly cheaper.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0245962178&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWAX:IT

At least one person here has used this kit.

Does anybody that has used water injection have a nozzle suggestion?

For that price, order one up, and get your camera ready for a write up! Is that a Typo, or does Bill really have a FIFTY gallon water tank??

Now to find some mainstream IAT gauges.

Yep 50, said he doesn't like stopping to put water in the tank all the time. He also told me some people running his setup the way he does use rv holding tanks mounted under the truck.

The last time I talked to Bill, he said they were working on a IAT gauge setup.

I would use the 300cc mister if only one. You dont need a lot and you want it to be as fine as possible. and run it at 100psi, because youre likely to cause leaks at higher than that on regular push fittings. You probably want to run it at 6psi or so with a small under hood tank. I have a 5 gallon tank in my bed toolbox.

I've observed 300cc mister alone in mine cut down 30-50F IAT on GMTDScan with the ATT on long hill climbs of 10psi boost (which is a lot for the ATT). So where IAT would have been 260 it was like 220.

smaller nozzle at rated pressure or slightly above the better atomization you will get.

I had considered putting my own system together using just a check valve a lot cheaper because I like simple. I can source the fittings hose and wiring for next to nothing. I like the solenoid in this system and still might try to source my own parts cheaper. I like the solenoid system because I might try to have it IAT activated one day. Then it would kick on at a certain IAT temperature and off when it dropped below that.

With this digital EGT gauge you can trigger the water injection with an EGT setting.

I agree, I intend on picking one of them up. I have devils own and the devilsown dude emailed me asking how I liked it as I had an other item in my shopping cart but had not completed the purchase. He also mentioned he is now supplying heath. HMM. anyhow I would advise having it EGT triggered vs boost. I have mine wired as boost as that is my controller, I should have gone EGT as boost fluctuates to much in my truck. It is difficult to explain but it might be different if our boost was 0-50 pounds as the ratio right now is tight at 0-14 and getting just the right setting is not a possibility especially if one varies the loads on the engine. IE. towing or a box full of wood or whatever. I found that I would get 10 lbs boost towing while empty I'm 5. so you are forever adjusting. besides here I don't need spray while going down a highway. All I need for it to do is when the egt's climb while going up a hill or stepping on it towing to pass a car. Ya I do that once in a while. LOL.. as for gph I would have to look at the nozzles. Ed

A lot of people run WMI just for the performance and efficiency and reliability advantages and its best used under boost when lot of air to cool and to mix with. So if it were just a safety thing then yeah, maybe EGTs, but if its for performance and efficiency then run it off of boost.
