Walbro FRB-28

Matt, I agree a bit more pressure might be a good thing, but that sounds like the same performance I'm getting from my FRB-5. I'm generally 5-7 in normal driving, and on a hard pull 3-4 psi. So, I'm still not convinced that the FRB-28 or your custom pump really have better performance. Not trying to argue, you have a good point that a bit more pressure would be a good thing for the IP, but I think the steadier pressure and higher volume that the FRB-5 gives over the stock filter does the job.

I don't know if this is a good analogy or not, but here goes ..... everyone agrees that a 4" exhaust gives much better performance than stock, but that doesn't mean a 5" exhaust will give you much more than the 4".

I'm not convinced either. I'm just happy they made good on the pump I should have had from the get go.

It'll be interesting this year to see what the diesel does in the frigid cold. That is the only reason I could see more pressure helping.

I have absolutely no idea if more PSI would do anything different to the IP or not. I just like the thought of the IP opening up, and the fuel being pressurized in there safely of course. The less work the IP has to do, the better is for sure.

Filled up my fuel tanks, and now I'm getting almost 10 psi at the pump, a hair under 9-9-8 at idle, easy driving 7psi.

He never answered me about deadhead pressure, or changes for FRB-28, so I told him my updated feedback (as he requested for), and asked him flat out if its built to FRB-28 Spec.

Who exactly are you dealing with? Walbro themselves?

When will the new FRB-28 be available for everybody else.

I ask cause my LP is starting to make noise. With a cheap gauge hooked up to the end of the water drain on the front of the motor I have 5.5 PSI with the motor off and 1.1 at idle.

If I want to replace my LP I do not won't to waste money on the same junk I have now. Mine is only a year old!

Just to be clear, I DO NOT HAVE a FRB-28.

He just built me something out of parts he had to suit my request. Could it be the same parts as FRB-28?? I'd like to know. It pegged out my 10psi at waterdrain in a heartbeat, and now i'm pushing 9psi+ at idle with full tank of fuel. This is pulling through a Racor, and pushing through the FLT MGR.

I'd love to know the direct PSI of the pump, but I don't have a guage that goes high enough and I'm not about to screw with my in-cab gauge... I'm tired of stinkin of disel.

If you only have 1.1 at idle at the water drain, you probably have ZERO at the injection pump once it passes through the flt mgr.... In fact, i'd guarantee it. Keep that in mind.

He told me its coming out in a couple of weeks, but by the time that trickles down to retail who knows.... I am talking with a "Senior Engineer" at Walbro. I know he checks his e-mail all the time, but is very reluctant to give me much information on the pump he sent me, yet he thanks me for the feedback.

If i were you and you're driving you're truck I'd get a FRB-5 asap. Its a good pump, seems like I just got one of the few bad ones..... story of my life.

When I was using my backup LP waiting for walbro to come back, my carter was reading 4psi at the water drain, and 1 at the IP. With any sort of throttle what-so-ever it went to zero at the IP. Keep that in mind when you're driving your truck.

You sure your sock isn't gooed up?

I have no clue! :nonod:

I will post a request on the vendor section to see who has the cheapest one.

Thanks!

Undo the back end of the LP connector with your fuel cap off and blow compressed air into the tank.

Check Pressure again.

If your fuel pressure has the rubber pressure fitting, undo the other end of the LP and check pressure coming right out of the ass of the stock LP. That will tell you for sure if its the pump or not. (Still have to blow air into tank first, to rule that out.)

I will not be able to do that till I get home in December.

This weekend I will start a new thread on this with pictures.

I hate being a high jacker!

False alarm

Good Morning Don
I will start off with an apology, the FRB-28 is not yet available. My
thinking was it that it was formally released but at this moment it
still not. Our OE customers have not approved it.
Please stay in contact with me and as soon as it is released I will let
you know

lol ... the saga continues!

Probably didn't approve it because it drops down to 5psi just like the 10psi rated walbro's do...
