Verifying draw in vehicle when off...

or one of those 12vdc to 115Vac inverters, some of those even powered off have a substantial current draw

Well, my point was that these are often equipped with quite a large capacitor and (often) a remote on/off. If left unhooked, that remote off/on could be causing a continuous power drain...

First thing to check if you are showing a parasitic load is pull the charging wire from the alt. If the load goes away the alt is bad. I've had diodes go bad in several. Charge the batteries just fine when the engine is running but kill the battery when off.

It in fact was the alternator. I've never replaced a charging alternator before :) Fired right up this morning, and i didn't even let it run before i went to sleep like i had to prior.
