Guys,

I have had it on my mind wondering what would happen if I decided to take one of my two trucks and parted it out to make the other a better unit. giving this thought I'm now wondering which one of the two I have holds more value and which is more sought after.

I had thought the 93 would be valued higher but looking on kbb the 95 is worth slightly more when entering the exact same details other than the color.

Whats Yall's opinion on which one of these two hold a higher value or is more sought after despite the things that are wrong with them. both are identically the same other than the year, one mechanical, one electronic. the 95 has a gov-loc rear, but I have never check what the 93 has. Most of all the deets are in my sig, but if there are any questions to compare to, ask away!

For the 6.5 crowd the mechanical is more desirable. However for the average consumer I'd think the '95 with the "newer" looking interior compared to the '93 dash and cluster could be perceived as more aesthetic and preferable. But that's incredibly subjective. Same for the ABS/ lack thereof on the 93 vs 95. 93 only has rear abs as far as I know and its easily deleted where 95 has the whole module and ECM system. Some would see full functional ABS and think it's safer and thus more desirable, whereas once again the more mechanical inclined crowd would appreciate seeing one less computer system in the rig to contend with that is easily deleted without throwing a code.

I'll have to admit I do like the dash in the 95 mainly over better options for more modern radios. I have a modern double din mounted in the 93, but I don't like the upward angle it has to sit causing a bad glare in the day time. if I ever get to replace the 93's dash with a re-pop I won't be cutting it to make the double din fit. will have to figure out something different. Though I prefer the simple sleek design of the older dash. seems much better view over the hood and make it feel more spacious inside!

Truly the best design dash in my opinion made was with the square body trucks. didn't have much but it was steel and some padding. be nice if those were able to fit into the newer trucks for the best of both worlds. maybe I need to find a junker to harvest a dash from. That would be the ultimate conversion for me.

ABS is another story. the 93 idk if the ABS system even works, it's disconnected but it has much better braking power than the 95 does. with that humongo ABS module under the hood that's intertwined with the proportioning valve is a PIA. currently disconnected as well but bleeding it is on another scale of 💩!

I lost faith in KBB a couple years ago Covid and inflation upended the market value depreciation.

Seems to me the only way to determine value is look at ads for comps. The rest is patience and ability to pull trigger.

Most value is determined by appearance looking at ads for comps.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing from several others about KBB. I did lookup values but they were shotty to say the least.

personal experience driving both, one would think that the two would drive the same since they were only two years apart, but the older one seems to drive and feel much nicer than the newer. Now that also might be the differences in one still having GM factory components like steering pump and whatnot where the other has all been replaced before in the past. the DB2 mechanical one does have more pep in it's step and getup and go response over the drive by wire too. that also might have something to do with it!

At this point, the utility value is far more important than the financial value.
