Well I dont have the funds for the motor build. So Currently I am putting my motor back together but using the rods out of my other motor. Im waiting for my headgaskets to show up and then ill really go at finishing it.

First Pull is next saturday so I should be ready. Everything is just bolt on now, no more designing and fab so it goes quick. I do have to fab up my new traction bars and brackets and id like to get the hitch and weight bracket painted too.

Kinda wanna drive it again, ive been driving a 94 crew cab dually 2wd long bed powerstroke thats grey with turqiouse decals and mouldings n lights everywhere. its an old person camper hauler.

I was lookin forward to watching the motor build, but i totally understand on the lack of funds!

Be sure to keep us updated on the pull season!

At least you have the backup motor.

10K is about normal for a motor build it seems, and that's a lot of $$$$..

Good luck Vinny.

Mine cam out to $6500 in parts and machine work.

Im still waiting on headgaskets and now a piston oil ring as i broke one of the when i was sliding the piston into the block.

Right no the crank and mains are installed, and the rods from the other motor are on the pistons from my motor as the pistons from the other motor had a different bowl design that wouldnt work to well with the production LB7 motors.

Past that though nothing has gotten done. I got sick on wednesday with a severe sore throat similar to what i had last year. And 104* fever again too. Went to the doc and he gave me a "magic mouthwash" to numb my throat so I could take my hydros that he put me on. Then just off the shelf IBuprofon for the fever. Its been rough but I feel a little better today. Hoping tomorrow ill b egood to go. But the county quarentined me to my house for 7 days. so I cant go back to work till thursday, but i can work on the truck whenever I want so I might just get it done in time.

Keep us posted Vinny, can't wait to see what it will do!

Are you still sick? I think I just got the same thing. Did they know what it is?

Its conirmed i had the swine flu. They shoved that swab up my nose and the test came back positive.

My headgaskets, oil ring and crank seals were supposed to be here yesterday. But they never showed up. Hopefully today they will and the second they do im quitting hauling manure and going right to work. i need to have that motor 100% done and in the truck tonite and hopefully have everything hook up and the whole front clip on so tomorrow all i have to do is put the rest of the driveline in.

I also need to make my new driveshaft loop setup but that can wait if it has to. The sanctioned pull isnt till saturday so legally i dont need it till then. My new setup is simply just catting off part of the old setup and bolting it on. My old setp wasnt working well and this is a quick fix.

I also should make my new traction bars but i dont think there will be time.

Im hoping to have this thing done tomorrow night and running. so on friday all i have to do is clean it up as it has 2" of dust on it and Cummins power and Powerstroke, and Junk written all over it.

Friday night there is a street class which is 26" hitch 8,000lb everything else goes. I work with the sled operator/owner so ill see if hell let me sneak in an extra hook or two for tuning and to get the feel of this new setup.

Its gonna be tight and hpefully my buddies arent busy with fieldwork tonite. Im starting to feel better but allergies are still bugging me.

More later

can you post a parts list that you used? only $6500 sounds enticing.

DPR X beam Rods 2600-2850
Cut and Coated LB7 pistons $550 is you already have a set done by DPR
Main studs 280
Valveprings ($750 beehives (600 for duals from DPR)
C headgaskets $220 set
Drilled Rod Bearings $150
Main bearings 150 i think
Crank key $100 by DPR
cam key 50 by DPR
so cal damper 450
new water pump 100
misc 200-400
balancing 250 by DPR

and if you dont have head studs add 650

i think thats it

LB7 block and crank was the plan.

But my parts didnt show up today, now im not so sure. But I have nothing to do tomorrow, friday and saturday because my quarentine got extended and its supposed to rain. So the second they show up were going to town.

Found out parts will be here tomorrow. Now its getting cut close.

Tonite we cleared off 5 workbenchs and moved them so they are close to the motor. We are cleaning everything and laying it all out with all of the correct bolts with each part and the torque specs and other things to remember on sheet of paper with each part.

Im also making a step by step list of how things need to go together incase i get lost tomorrow.

We are also getting a couple other little things done on the truck tonite and working on the tuning, mostly just taking some timing out so I dont bend my rods again.

Its gonna be really close. But this is what pulling is all about to me, its no fun unless its last minute.

Good luck Vinny! Let us know how everything goes.

Well I just got inside and man am i glad i took the time to do all of that tonite. I spent a good 5 hours cleaning everything and getting everything completely organized so things can go smoothly tomorrow.

Theres a few more little things I couldve done but i decided to call it good for the night.

The worst part is over IMO, and that is getting all of the old sealant off of everything. I hate doing this especially since GM machines little grooves into everything.

Tomorrow i have to run to the stealer for an injector return line gasket that i was waiting for then ill prbably be pacing back and forth in the shop waiting for the brown truck to arrive.

thanks, im just sitting here waiting for the UPS guy to arrive.

Gonna be going back out shortly to do a few more little things.

I wish I wouldve bolted my motor mounts earlier in the week, now i dont want to take the chance of not having them done in time.

hes here, the brown truck just showed up. Talk to you guys when its put together and running.

I had my usual luck this afternoon though. Went to start it and nothing. Tried lot of things and determine there were some big electrical bugs to work out. The starter relay clicked but not the solenoid, only one battery was supplying power for some reason and when you pushed the horn the signals would flash. And my lift pump wouldnt run. There was some smoke coming from the rear of the motor and ifigured one of my problems was there.

I arced the started and it jumped but then completely lost power to it.

Hooked EFI Live up to it and it said there was no vehicle to recognize.

Then my buddy flipped my valet switch and it started cranking but wouldnt turn over.

A lot of looking around and found nothing. THen rested my hand on the intake manifold and gave myself and pretty nice burn. WTF. It was hotter than the exhaust manifold.

So i unhooked the intake heater and the truck fired right up.

But a coolant leak from the oil cooler convinced me to just not pull it, it was just leaking too much. Plus all of these electrical issues scared me. I think its something simple and has to do with the valet switch as the smoke was coming from where it runs through the firewall.

If the truck wouldve been 100% put together i probably wouldve ran it, but just decided to toss in the towel.
