Hello all just joined your forum and I have to say this forum is Tits. Tod from Heath Diesel told me about it and what I found makes all the other site's pail in comparison the knowlege here is endless.

I live in the Buckeye state and just bought a 95 GMC C1500, 6.5 non turbo & thats a big bummer but the truck looks pretty decent. It spent 14 yrs of its life in Virginia working for the goverment hope they had a good maintainence plan, it spent its last yr in wisconsin. The truck has 148K on it, bare bones truck only option is air and a radio and I think it only has 5 lug wheels.

Hopefully I can get it home from Wisconsin without all these parts I've been reading about on the forum that like to grenade on you.I wish I would have found this forum before I bought this truck. From what I have been reading here it sounds like I might have bought into a money pit from all the stuff that goes wrong withe 6.5 I hope I'm wrong on that.

GM should have designed the 6.5 like the motor in my Mack with better quality parts. Sure is a shame that GM engineers had to turn to the Japanese to design the Duramax motor.

Sure hate to sound so negative about the 6.5 motor but like I said before its all what I read here on all the cheaply & poorly designed parts that they used in the motor but maybe I'll change my mind after I pick it up and play with it for a while like I said it looks like a nice truck.

Sorry for the rant I'm going to climb down off my soap box now and thats mostly reserved for people in politics.

Welcome to The Truck Stop Mark!
:welcome3:

I believe you will find the answer to all the possible troubles you might have right here. These guys will have you driving a reliable 6.5 right quick.
BTW, quite a few Ohio guys around here.

The 6.5 has it's problems as do all others, what they have going for them is they are relatively cheap to repair.

Welcome to TTS.

Thanks for the nice welcome to the forum guys. I'm glad there is a site like this for maintaince and go fast stuff. I know accorrding to the car-fax it had a IP changed at 83K.it now has 148K First thing to do is to see what needs sorted out and find out what has or hasn't been done to it.

Down the road I want to find a turbo conversion for it cause I bet its probably a real sled without it and do some of the preventive mods like move the PMD to the bumper.
Thanks again for the welcome.

Welcome fellow Buckeye.

Yep 6.5's are a money pit, but so are Women... :hihi:

At least a guy (and Missy) can FIX a 6.5..

Good luck with your new Tee-ruck.

glad to have another 6.5 owner here in Ohio. welcome!

I don't think you will regret buying a 6.5 truck. And I believe your truck is mechanically injected for any mid90's NA engine(less electrical, easier to diagnose)

Like you said, focus on getting all the small problems fixed, then worry about all the goodies like a turbo and such.

If your ever over in the Sandusky area I encourage you to stop by, talk about what you can really do with a 6.5.

Thanks for the welcome there fellow Buckeye I appreciate it. I just got done cleaning the EGR valve and inside the intake it looked pretty crappy in there. I'm going to go through all my grounds tomorrow .

I think I'm going to go ahead and change the oil ,according to the seller there's about 3500K on the oil change its looking kind of dirty. I think I'll put some Chevron Delo 15/40oil in it thats what I run in my Mack and have had good sevice from it. Probably change the fuel filter to that was changed about 1 yr ago.

Well thanks for the welcome fellow Buckeye & Trumbull Countian don't know if thats a real word or not. Yeah your not to awfull far away that's for sure, that's nice country up that way, farm country.

What the heck is that cannon that you have in your avatar, or is that just the tail pipe off your dually that fell off? So your one of those guys that get to chase those little cars around the circle at Sharon. My brother used to run semi-late & late- model back when it was asphault and when they let late-models run there.

My uncle still pushes but my cousin and I gave it up. Late Madels HUH..................... my cousin got into racin by hanging around Paul Davis, which in turn got myself and my brother into it.
