Tranny Rebuilt With Engine Codes.

Yeah that's it, olny 5 pounds....... Kinda sucks I can't do over 130 with out the egts getting over 1100 and my engine light flickering

You were probably coding for underboost perhaps?

Whats holding wastegate?

Its Wired FULLY Closed?

How about Air filter? Any obstructions coming in? Exhaust restrictions?

Are you driving this truck or is it sitting with OLD diesel?

Yes it's throwing code 78. And just the turbo master is holding it closed right now. I put hay wire on my other spare gm8 turbo i have but it olny hit 9 pounds. So really no difference between the two turbos. Its somthing else eather i have a bad leak or bad wiring im thinking.

Difference between 5 and 9 is huge when the top is 15!

If you were pushing 9 lbs instead of 5 I bet those EGTs would be around 800-900.

Okay well the original turbo (GM4) hit 17 pounds easy. So i swapped it out with a GM8 and with just the tubo master it hit olny 5 pounds. So i hay wired the wastegate shut nice and tight. I olny hit 9 pounds for a quick second. So i thought that there was somthing wrong with that one so i put my other GM8 i had on and it did the exact same thing. So its odviously not the turbos The fact is i shouldent half to wire the wastegate shut to get olny 9 pounds when i easly hit 17 before with the smaller turbo and turbo master........

The turbo is operating completely mechanical, no wiring problems there. You are probably underboosting, because what some aftermarket tuners like to do is just put all the boost values up to 12psi, even when stock would drop to 1 in some areas in an actual curve. And they increase the tolerance for the difference for any period of 10 seconds from about 3 psi to 6psi.

So you are underboosting when it wants 12psi you only have 4-5.

Because it is mechanical, you have a preturbo exhaust leak, post turbo intake leak, or low engine compression. Or you need to tighten the TM up.

The engine seems and sounds powerful even without the boost so Im guessing its not an engine compression issue.

You tried the GM4 today, or was this a while back? My GM4 hits 17psi easy too. Can you snap a picture of how you are wiring shut? Youre pulling the lever up or towards the front of truck right?

Yes I have tryed tightening the turbomaster as tight as it will go and still nothing. And yes the leaver is pulling towards the truck. We tripple checked that it was properly closed. I can turn up the values on the GMTD scantech?

Nothing is controlling your boost except for engine load. More load, more boost... Its mechanical at this point. Nothing like your pretty little Dmax.

Something is causing low boost. As Buddy mentioned above ideas.

WOT with your WG wired shut should get a 10+ boost in a properly functioning system. ITs mechanical so its either AIR in, the TURBO itself, or AIR OUT, as engine sounds and runs healthy.

The truck is being used right now i have it up at work with me. There is no old fule or dirty air or fule filter were just changed them. Im going to check the intercooler when i get back home.......

Check the crossover donut gaskets.

Anytime I have had a boost leak on a 6.5 it has sounded LOUD!

Also, that wastegate has to be shut quite solidly in order to prevent any leakage. Lots of guys have said that they have wired it shut when in fact there was enough play in the wastegate to allow the exhaust to bypass....

Statement to highlighted text. I'm not sure what you mean by "towards the truck", but on the GM8 the wastegate lever should be pulled up, towards the hood.

Hey so i have an update. I went to start my truck yesteday and i noticed oil around the frame at the clamp. Sure as shit the clamp wore through. So i replaced it and it dident it fix it what so ever the truck smokes alot more now for some reason. And im not sure if this has anything to do with it but before i took my truck in for the tranny rebuild ( right after i put the spare torque in). The lift pump had no power to it. I never did find the problem i just ran a secondary power wire to run the pump to get it going. And on another note i finnaly found an HX35 tubo so hopfully next weekend it will be going on.
