I had a guy offer to trade his 2000 model Powerstroke for my truck and 2000.00, I'll admit I was somewhat tempted even though I'm not much on Fords. The HP and torque numbers look good. Everything I read on them said bullet proof! Best diesel made! ect. But when you really get to looking if you do have trouble with one of these it is pricey! 2500 for a set of injectors, HP pumps 900 and the list goes on. Not to mention nothing looks simple to get to. Didn't seem like a good deal after that.

Fords is good rigs for those that like them and dont have to work on them.
Everytime I wind up working on a ford, I like them even less than the last one I worked on. You are right, expensive on parts too.

Those prices depend.
Parts store will cost you. What's funny is typically the good companies making quality parts are actually cheaper.
Mine has been pretty reliable.

My BIL has a F250, might be a single wheel 350 with diesel. he has not had many problems with that and has over 300,000 miles on it.

My son just bought a new 2017 F250 four door with 6.7L Powerstroke. Said he was looking at Tacomas and the F250 was not much more. I'm watching the guinea pig.

I once had a ford pickup, 1992 flare side, got it real cheap. I did not want to keep making payments on it so I traded it to a guy for an 88 GMC K1500. I could not imagine that the ride and traction of the GMC was so much more better than that ford.
I had always pretty much stuck with GM products before that and, now, I will have no more Fords.

The 6.7 PSD is the next best thing ford has done, next to the 7.3 PSD. Lol
And is actually designed/manufactured in-house by ford.

That generation has the 7.3 which is a robust motor as long as it gets love. No different than any other vehicle in terms of proper care. Sure, there are some things that might need attention, but they are well known at this point and not that different than any other vehicle.
The weak link is the slushbox and it needs beefing-up if not already done.
Last comment is that generation does not like brine which will cause cancer all over the place.
If the truck is in good shape and was given proper care, it is known as a reliable vehicle.
