Press in type, BFH and a pipe.
OEM rivet in type, drill and/or smokewrench
OEM rivet in type, drill and/or smokewrench
Both of my joints were riveted, cut and knock with hammer.......

A arm. I already have the pickle fork that I used for the upper joints.
As suggested Grind or drill the heads off the rivets. New one bolts in.

No, that's the uppers. The lowers are pressed in.
Crap! sorry.
AutoZone rents a balljoint press (looks like a big "c" clamp). I use mine all the time for other jobs to, works great on ujoints.

When I did my lower ball joints I rented the tool from O'Reilly's auto parts.
The rent price was the price of the tool with a 100% price return for the tool when you returned it.
Without the tool I do not see how you would get them off.

On the GMT-400 it's an expanded rivet. Have to grind the caps off the rivets, then drill them out. It's better if you have a drill press and can get a straight cut. Drill it down about 3/4, then use an air hammer to drive it out.

Thanks for all the help guys. This is exactly what I did except it was Advanced Auto that I borrowed the tool from. The lowers were very easy to hammer out and I used the tool to press the new ones in. One old one fell apart after one hammer shot. The other pulled apart in my hand. SCARY!!
