Too Much Oil

I changed oil and filter, and added 8 quarts. The truck is a '95, but has a newer engine in it. I only know this because it has a tap for the oil sending unit under the manifold also. I am just wondering if the engine will start puking oil if I don't remove a quart. I'm inclined to just drive it!!!

In my opinion, you'll probably be ok. The real issue of concern could possibly be a slightly obstructed oil drainback from the turbo, -but I surely don't think one extra quart is going to cause that to happen. As far as puking oil goes, -that shouldn't be a concern either.

Reason given for warning against overfilling, is the possibility of of the crank churning the oil ,& resulting in frothing , (airtrapping) . Doubt that would happen in this case (8qts) Maybe different opinions on this.

I put 8 quarts in all of mine. If it makes you feel better you can adjust the dipstick up on the valve cover bracket that holds the tube.It will then only be to the full mark.

Ditto to bk95td. I've always put 8 quarts in my pickup. When i changed to the Lube specialist cooler/lines it took close to 10.5 before it hit the "full" mark on the dipstick.

My blazer i blow out the cooler/lines with compressed air and dump 8 quarts in. It's usually a tiny bit over the full mark, but it hasn't cared yet. I am running a 2 quart Wix filter on that truck so it's probably closer to 9 quarts oil cap.

On an oil change I only put 8 quarts in and I have a double capacity 2 quart filter (which only works for 2wd). And it shows full well after having run it a few times. 1 quart may not cause a problem, but much more and you are likely to end up with tons of oil coming out the CDR and going through the turbo and attemping to burn it in the cylinders which can cause problems. That is what happened to Heath when he put a couple too many quarts in his racer and he had to put in a new engine. Heath runs at higher RPMs, but I get plenty of oil through the CDR at normal RPMs and not overfilled.
