Well the familiy is headed on a 1500 mile round trip to my monther-in-laws for Thanksgiving.:smash: :eek:ut: I need to make sure the old burb is ready for the trip. I just want to make sure everything is in tip top shape before I go.

I have recently done the following:
New Brakes and Calipers
Rebuilt injectors
Tires Good
Heath t/m
Lift pump
fuel sending unit

Here is what I need to do:
Oil Cooler upgrade
Oil bypass
Oil Change
Trany flush
Radiator flush
extra fuel filter
extra lift pump
Tim's pre LP fuel filter

Here is what I'd like to do if I had the time/$$$:
Heath ECM
Tim's FTB
Chinese Turbo

Am I missing anything important?

Thanks!

Fuel, ear plugs and DVD’s for the kids :biggrin5:. And leave late at night or almost dark so that everyone else will sleep :eek:11:.

On a serious note I would check and/or replace the belt too. :seeya:

AH,, a spare FSD, used mine this past weekend, now I don't have a spare anymore. :cheers2: I was glad to have had a spare though.

Don't forget the hoses along with the belt. Check the air cleaner to insure it's breathing well for the best MPG.

If your IP is weak like mine bring a gallon of water to dump on it in case the truck doesn't start. Long hot road trip is when it's going to do it.

Maybe some trans fluid, I blew a line on my aux cooler tonight, I had to walk a mile and back with 4 gallons of Dex III, ever tote 4 gal of Dex a mile in plastic sacks a mile it ain't light, also some pieces of hose and hose clamps various sizes if you need to make a splice repair. I didn't see no 200 mph duct tape or bailing wire on that list

You didn't tole me dat bud, I mite have an extra call me.

Well I was kind of in shock and denial, just now came to grips with it. But having a spare was more than worth it. The FSD went quietly in its sleep one night and wouldn't start the next morning. A couple of words over it's demise, (nothing for children to hear) and I put my spare in. Lucky for the remote mount though. :hurray: Got to love it.

I have one ready mounted on a heatsink. So I just have to plug in the cable.

The remote mount I have is on the frame and only takes 2 bolts and it is loose. Just scraping the old sealant off and applying new, guess I am just peed off the it is the weak link in our fuel system.:confused5:

1500 not to long of a trip

2300 dec 15 07 los angeles to sc dec 31 07 from sc to los angeles sept 30 08
from los angeles to sc one more time i get to go home the only thing that broke was the belt

It's not. Oh wait... mine is a Heath.

:) Pay me now, or pay me later :)

Rodd, you sound like you have it all figured out. Personally, when I used to go to MY mother-in-law's, I prayed for breakdowns...

"Sorry honey, you know how these things are. If we could only afford a new truck, we wouldn't have missed overcooked turkey."

Bwahahahaa

Ohhh If only that would work for me. Words just can't describe.

Too bad it won't work for me. My wife is always complaining about me working on the truck. Can you imagine???? When at home... When are you going to be done? Are you done yet? It will only get amplified on the side of the road.
