Tire Reviews

Just checked the tread depth all around and it’s pretty even about 11/32’s
On edit: checked Michelin website, these tires are new with 13.5/32's. So I've worn 2.5/32nd's in about 13k miles. I'd say 50% of that was towing a trailer.

I was surprised I was the last one to post here and that was 2 years ago!!!

Anyways, I had about 43k on the Michelins and picked up a bolt in one of them. got it patched at Americas Tire, however it kept leaking about 15 psi over 3-4 days. Finally got it back to Americas Tire before our recent trip up to WA, and now they claimed the hole was too big to patch.

I asked about a patch instead of just a plug and he still insisted the hole was too big and since I had purchased the tire replacement certificates, they were going to replace the one damaged tire -- but since they dont stock the LTX M/S anymore it would be the LTS M/S2. I'm way too anal to have mismatched tires so I inquired about helping out with the remaining 3 and got denied. Unfortunately they weren't able to get the Michelins in before we were heading out of town. So started looking at other options and came across the Toyo OpenCountry AT3. I've had Toyo MT's before on my dually and actually really liked those tires on that truck -- not something I'd run on this rig. But decided to get the AT3's since they were able to get them before we left town. In the end they helped me out with claiming 2 of the 4 tires on the replacement certs I had so I only had to buy 2. Still stupid expensive but used this opportunity to go back up to LT285/70R17's. And kept 2 of my michelins (trailer spares)

Put them to work right away with 1700 miles of highway driving, plenty of rain and some slushy snow mixed in there. Overall they were nice tires, no where near as quiet as the michelins but these were acceptable. The most noticeable difference was the softer steering response compared to the Michelins. It wasn't terrible and totally predictable but took a little to get used to at first.

Now the more annoying part was on the way back home I started to notice a vibration/shudder coming from the back at around 60mph and continued to get worse up to 75-80mph to the point it was seriously shaking the back of the truck. Went back to Americas Tire today to chat with them. I toyed with the idea of just bailing on these and going back the Michelins but since I already had 1700 miles on these (Toyo has a guarantee only up to 500mi/45 days) that wasn't gonna be an easy ask. So they put their "best guy" on the job to rebalance the tires. I chatted with the tech he was interested in the truck a bit so hopefully that means he put enough effort into balancing them the best he could. I haven't had a chance to get it back up to highway speeds yet but I'll be checking it out soon.

Overall they are comfortable and handled the rain and slush just fine without any issues. The noise is not that noticeable and honestly fairly quiet for how aggressive they look. But the steering response is just something to get used to -- I was spoiled with the michelins.

They do look pretty good on this rig.

Wow. Nice rig.
I get my tires balanced and run balance beads inside each tire. I feel that the beads really help. I had around 82k on General Grabbers and 80k on Cooper AT3s. Only got around 44k on original OEM Bridgestone tires.
I am in need of tires this spring.
Love that truck @BigDogYJ

Only tires other than the factory fires and Blizzaks that I have run on my 2500HD is Michelins. First set was LTX MS 2 Michelins, put about 40,905 miles on those in 7 years. Next set of Michelins that are currently on the truck are the LTX AT2 Michelins, they have about 18,000 miles on them and are about 6 years old. I have been really pleased with the ride of those and not much noise. I don't need an aggressive off-road tire, only off-road action is at deer camp in some mud and of course my driveway is two tenths of a mile of dirt and gravel. They will pick up all kinds of little rocks and sling them, oh well that's a tradeoff I guess.
