So, the 05 is at 62k, and the trans fluid is dark, and smells kind of burned. Time to change that, and I figured I'd change the t-case and axle fluids as well. What else do I need? Do I need axle gaskets, or will RTV work? I'm going Amsoil, so if Wrecker could chime in with what fluids to use that'd be great, lol. Also, We haven't had anything done with the pump-rub issue, but we haven't lost any fluid or anything yet. What does that all entail, and how do we fix it? I really don't want to pull the transfer case apart myself.

For an '05 I would recommend Torque Drive for the trans and Xfer case, SVG (75w-90 Severe Gear) for front and rear diffs.

Oh, and I would recommend you buy from me!:D

Where do I drain and where do I fill then? The plug on the cover is a check/fill plug, correct?

Ashton, what can you get me for a price, with an EaO Oil filter as well, with enough fluid for the trans and t-case, and the axle fluids?

The drain plug on the rear axle is on the bottom side of the pumpkin. Put a 3/8" drive extension in there and turn it out. The front axle has a drain plug also but I don't remember if its on the bottom or on the side of the pumpkin. Just slide under there and you'll see it. Both plugs have magnets on them so you'll want to make sure you clean them up before reinstalling.

Also if you are doing the tranny, DO NOT throw the magnet away that is on the spin on filter on the drivers side of the tranny. You'll need to clean that off as well and reuse it.

I've done the tranny filter before. I just wasn't sure about the drain plugs. I do work at a repair shop, I just wasn't sure about the drain plugs. Never done anything other than oil and the tranny filter on the D-max.

Please make sure to take out the fill plug before you drain the fluid. Good luck.

(I hope that did not insult you, since you do work at a repair shop.)

No, I'm not insulted, I just wanted to clarify my experience, so people don't treat me like I'm completely in-experienced. Thanks for all the help!!
