Thinking About Getting A UTV (Side-By-Side)...

Looks like they basically made an ATV Rincon 700 into a UTV. The same single cylinder engine and the same basic transmissions put into the UTV.

My nephew has the 6x6 Mule, he put his Lincoln 305G welder in the back and uses it pipelining in the muskeg.

Well, the Honda is out. They are a bunch of Lazy / Angry assholes at the Local Dealer. They'd rather sit at their Desk and pretend to be busy than to help you and make a Sale. They also like to Badmouth other Local Dealers in an attempt to scare you into Buying from them. I don't Deal with people like that.

So went over to the other Dealer that I've Bought from before and where a Friend works as a Mechanic. As soon as I walked in, I was Greeted, and asked if I wanted anything to Eat or Drink, and what they could help me with. I told them I was interested in UTV's and they said whatever one I was interested in, let them know, and they'll gimme the Keys to take it for a Ride. Now that's what I call Service!!

So now it's down to a Kawasaki Teryx LE, Yamaha Viking, or Kawasaki Mule 4010.

Love the Teryx LE, but the Bed is pretty Small compared to the '13 Model. They def. Geared the '14 more Towards Play rather than Work. But has a 3 Year Warranty.

Love the Viking, but it's only got a 6 Month Warranty and I honestly didn't Spend much Time with it.

Love the Mule. This thing is Built like a Tank. Everything is Metal, little to no Plastic, HUGE Bed, Diesel, and a 3 Year Warranty. But it's limited to 25mph. Even if you Bypass the Governor, you only get 30mph. Very Rough Ride if you get into anything Technical due to Stiff / very little Suspension Travel.

The Beds on the Teryx LE & Viking are pretty damn High, don't know how much of a Problem that would be when Loading Heavy things. The Mule is a good bit Lower.

I can get the best Deal on a Gas Mule, the Diesel they have there is a 4 Seater, but not sure how much room is in the Price. The Viking they want MSRP, but there's Wiggle room, and the Teryx LE is a $15k Machine and they only want $12k for it, mayyybe can squeeze a lil more out of them.

I'd love to get the Mule, but I don't know if I'd get pissed off at the 25mph Top Speed. But if I go with the Yamaha, I'll get a bigger Bed, but less Warranty, and if I go with the Teryx LE, I'll get a longer Warranty, but Smaller Bed.

Although, I'm sure I could Build onto the Current Bed in the Teryx LE with some Plywood and make it Bigger if I really needed to.

I'm not gonna be Blazing through Trails with this thing, it's gonna be used around my House for Hauling Brush, Mulch, Plowing, Fire Wood, ect... which would be perfect for the Mule, but if I ever Move or take it somewhere, is that 25mph Top Speed gonna Haunt me?

Just depends on what your ultimately going to use it for. For a work UTV, the diesel Mule sounds like the way to go. A true work UTV. If your looking more for a combination UTV, then maybe something different.

The mule also has better suspension options with the aftermarket, won't get the long travel like the Teryx but better and smoother than stock.

For your planned use (utility around the house) the mule would be your best option. Plus when you fold down the rear seat (I assume your looking at a trans mule) the bed is huge.

Yea, that's where I'm stuck. Should I get it for what I'm gonna use it for right now, or get something that I'll use now and have the Speed for later on if I take it somewhere to Ride.

Yea, that's the part that totally blew me away with the Trans Mule Diesel.

Only bad thing is the Diesel Mule comes with a 1 Year Warranty, and the Gas has the 3 Year. Kinda makes you wonder why?

Where'd you find Aftermarket Suspension for the Mule? All I found was 2 Lift Kits.

My theory would be get the mule for the work. Then if you want something to play on pick up a used quad that you can thrash on an so what if you break something on a $1,000 machine. I have seen a lot of wrecked side by sides from goofing off and it is never a cheap fix, and that is not a warranty thing.

Well, got a SxS today.

They sold the Teryx LE I wanted, so I had to look at other models.

Arctic Cat 500 - Nice, tons of storage, huge bed, but plastic...but...it was gutless. And kept sputtering until it was warmed up, and even then, I wasn't impressed. Engine under Seat, so would be tricky to work on.

Yamaha Viking - Awesome. Not too much storage, bed a lil smaller than the Arctic Cat, great low end punch, engine braking, engine easy to work on...but...bed is really high, alot of plastic.

Mule 4010 2 Seater Gas - Awesome. yea, it's only limited to 25mph, but that's really the only bad thing about it. EVERYTHING is Metal, engine is easy to work on, huge bed, power delivery is the smoothest out of all the ones I drove. All the other ones were VERY Jerky and had to Rev pretty high to get going. The Mule, you just hit the Gas, and you start rolling, it's really nice.

So....I settled on the Mule.

I'm not gonna be taking it anywhere on Trips, or ripping trails in the woods, I'm gonna be putting it to work. If I wanna go fast, I'll take out the King 750 or KTM 525.

Got it for $10.5k OTD, it'll be here tomorrow.

New toys are fun!!! Even work toys, they make you focus on the new goody n stead of the hard labor part.

Awesome!

Those Kawasaki Mules are work horses. I have always wanted a kawasaki mule diesel. But, I have no need for one.

Definitely some pics please. Did you get the diesel Mule?

For some reason the diesel comes with a 1 year warranty. The gas version has a (3)three. That was one of his reason for getting the gas.

Already put it to work hauling firewood. Didn't even notice the Bed was full.

I was gonna get the Diesel, but the only one they had there was a 4 Seater, and like was said, the Diesels only have a 1 Year Warranty, and they aren't gonna be making the Diesel Model anymore.

So I got a Gas 2 Seater, 4WD, Power Steering, Brush Guard and Headache Rack, and standard 3 Year Warranty. They didn't even Charge me for the Accessories since they were already on it from the Factory.

Here's some Pics.

Coolest feature that I love on this thing is this: look in the 2 Pics that show the Canisters. 1 is the Air Intake, the other is for the CVT Housing. Now, look how they "plug in" to the Roll cage. Now, look at the pic that shows the top of the Roll cage with something that looks like a 3rd Brake Light would go there. But it doesn't, that's where the CVT and Engine get their Fresh, Dust Free, Water Free Air from. How cool is that?!
