The K-5 and forced induction

Maybe the turbo is weak ?? Could be a boost leak somewhere with that hihat setup ??? I wonder if an F intake would help.

It certainly doesn't sound weak. Whistles like mad, and the whistle picks right up with engine RPM. When cruising down the road it's not pumping soot so i knwo the turbo is doing something. It may not be making boost, but remember boost is just pressure against closed intake valves. It's not everything. CFM matters a lot too.

they were built to run 10 psi balls to the wall, WOT, so cracking 3.5 with me driving conservatively doesn't seem out of spec.

Going to try to modify a spare 6.5T CDR and see if i can do something about the blowby. Stupid 6.2 CDR isn't doing a damn thing with the turbo setup.

Bottom line that K5 will not pull like a DS4 Equipped truck and neither will my 93 but the trade off is our trucks won't be on the side of the road broke down with PMD / ecm etc etc. I'll accept that sacrifice anyday of the week...:D

Also, my GM4 won't twitch either with a dry rev. It's the Mech IP. I think it's a slower accel curve. The DS4 really would have been a good idea if they ever could have gotten the thing to be remotely reliable...

Says the guy with the pervasive black cloud regardless whichever brand of Diesel he sits behind ;)

So far my 93 has been pretty good. Sad that the most useless truck I own is the best running. If I found a ecdrw 93 5spd 4x4 I would be in heaven. As far as the smoke thing I had a long talk with Bill H about this. he actually recommended cutting the fuel back on the IP He said turning the IP up with the TM can result in what I have. it's not horrible. Heck I drove Macks for years that did exactly the same thing. AFter owning my 93, I would not own another DS4 truck. It just runs better and I feel better owning it as I know no matter what happens to it, I can fix it with ease. Does have as much power as a DS4 ??no My stock burb has more SOP than my turned up DB2 But I'd drive that DB2 anywhere.
In Dave's case, I'm betting an intake swap will help alot. Never cared for the Banks intake .
