Alright folks.

I'm picky about how things get machined as far as iron for my 6.5 Diesel engines.

I need a machine shop that's experienced in working with the GM 6.2 and 6.5 Diesel cylinder heads. I need a shop that doesn't just mill heads with the precups installed. I also need a shop semi-close to me, I'm tired of paying fright to truck these damn things across country only to create more problems.

I'll need phone numbers that I can call and talk to the owners and head guys.

Help!

J

Well, where are you?

Texas have a span over 800 miles both east-west and north-south? So if you are in El Paso and the shop is in Dallas, that is still a long way. You probably better off going to New Mexico.

West Texas.

Doesn't matter really, semi-close, aware of the span man.

Don't think there is anything in NM, maybe OK.

Is Sante Fe close enough? Sante Fe TX?

Not ragging on you, but the area a member is from should be required when registering. IMO.

What I did in the past when my dad's was having trouble in OK, was I checked the Stanadyne website and find a few pump shop in the area of interest.

Call them up, then ask from them where would they do things that you want to do. Call the place they recommend, may not be the right one yet so keep asking until you find them. It is networking. They have their networks.

Also, check the racing community in your area. They do engine rebuilt all the time.

Where did you go in Oklahoma? I live in Enid so references in NW Ok would be great. I can't find a local place that rebuilts IP and injectors and don't know where to go for head work.

I have family (inlaws) in the local racing scene but every time I talk about work on the 6.5's they say do a cummins swap or sell it!

You can PM me to not hi jack the thread any further.

Found one solution, the obvious one, buy the tooling, take care of it.

These engines are such a pita to get stuff worked on for them.

My dad went to Poplin Diesel south of Tulsa. They have the mechanical skills but the diagnosis skills is a little bit iffy. They did not realize that the LP was out because of OPS. But they replaced a broken piston rods, by properly doing a compression test (which was not done correctly at the stealership), and also replace the IP and injectors properly.

I've heard of a good racing shop in Tulsa that specializes in built heads and improving their flow. They also do rebuild blocks and are Scat dealers. I doubt they are experienced in 6.5L but I think they could handle it. I'm just looking for something more local, a 4 hour drive to get head work is a bit far.

I know of a place I might hit up. I saw 2 6.5L in their drive a few days ago as well as a powerchoke, duramax, and cummins good collection! They also had a couple mud boggers sitting around.

Im mostly concerned about IP and Injector shops

You can potentially start calling people there and see who can do what?
