Tailgate Cable

The steel bars were actualy on alot of trucks 88-2000 style. Mostly I see them on one ton srw and duallies.

I'm not fully sure what years gm used the straps, but I know for a fact my 88 has them. I'm fairly certain its an earlier option, and they started using the cables later on. I know now the cables are all that is listed in the EPC for any 88-00 truck because they are interchangeable.

This bolt is the only difference between the ones with the cable and the bars. The thickness in the bolt is wider with the bars.

The tailgate did not have the plastic cover for the handle but mine is in good shape. Just needs a bath and some wax.

Lucky dog! Same paint color, no painting needed! Looks good!

Don

They are both black but the new to me tailgate is semi metallic black and my truck is just black. See if I can get a pic of the two for a comparison.
