When connecting the wires to the RPM sensor (I am using the one that runs off the oil pump drive gear in the engine valley) how do I determine polarity of the two wires? Or does it not matter?
My computer is no longer hooked up to my crank sensor. My glow plugs just run full cycle all the time. I have the Duraterms in mine and since they're self- limiting this shouldn't be a problem. Sorry, I don't have any insight into the oil pump driven sensor.Still have not found an answer to this anywhere........... I guess I will try to call US Shift and see if they have any input.
On a similar note... I seem to remember reading somewhere that the computer uses the crankshaft sensor input for controlling the glow plugs? Is this correct? And if so is there a way to fool it, as I am using a 96 computer with a 6.2 engine so there is no crankshaft sensor. My other options are to go with a manual button, or I could use a timer and make my own control circuit.
In general this project has slowed down recently due to the days getting shorter, and work has been keeping me late. So by the time I get off work I only have an hour or so of daylight to work in. (doing this job in the driveway) If I don't get some time on it in the next couple of weeks I will probably tow it to where I work so I can push it into the hanger in the evenings so I can have some light. I really don't think I am very far from being able to start it. A few of the big items left are: make a throttle cable bracket, run the fuel return line from the engine to the frame rail and connect to the original return line, route the fuel supply line from the pump up to the fuel filter, hook up the TPS and speed sensor to the US Shift controller, hook up the battery cables, and see if it smokes................
X2.Post a video When you get it running
