part 1. I have a 1998 chevy 1500 6.5td ext cab, I am wanting to beef up the rear end and was thinking of getting new shocks and add a leaf or two, but was wondering if there was another way or if this is the way to go. I have a 55gallon aux tank in the bed with a tool box.

part 2. If i do replace the shocks what other rear end parts should i replace?

Part 3. the stock fuel tank is 20-25 gallon, and was wondering if i could put a larger tank in? if so should i replace the fuel pump/filter?

I would use 01-07 2500-3500 rear leafs, cheap from salvage or Craigslist and ride smoother than 90's leafs.

Bilstein shocks.

You might be able to install burb rear 40gal behind the axle and make a dual tank switch.

Fuel pump is not mounted in tank on these trucks do some reading on the fuel system.

Part 1. You can install roadmaster active suspension spring google it. Or go to a spring shop and add some leafs. I am not a fan of the add a leaf kits just my opinion though. I guess they are alright if a quality product. Deaver springs will make you a set of new springs with new bushings.

How heavy do you want to upgrade? You will still be limited to the door sticker so I wouldn't go too crazy.

Part 2. Bilsteins are about the best option for shocks.

Part 3. Search posts for the Walbro pump I think a few vendors carry it I know Leroy diesel does I just bought one but its going to be a while before I install it.

with the fuel tank and tool box in the bed of the truck I will be right around 500 pounds, I would like to keep it level with that weight in the back if it is possible.
