Again they do not look bad, but as far as I know they have 180K on them.
I do know the crankshaft seal was leaking a little bit so a new gasket is on order.
FWIW I did rotate the crank by the 24mm nut on the HB to check for clunks and chunks and it seemed fine. Plus oil pressure is good which is generally an indicator that the crank is not broken in half and spewing oil everywhere but the bearings.
Thanks!!!
... If it is not this, I am really running out of ideas...
just a shot in the dark....pull the bell housing cover and check the flex plate and see if it's loose on the crank or torque converter....pretty easy just 4 bolt's...it will make a hell of a knock if it's loose...
............and while you are looking at the flex plate, turn that 24mm bolt again, mine had many of the same symptoms as yours including good oil pressure, but when I was able to move the bolt back and forth without the flex plate moving.......supposed to be a solid piece of steel in the middle!
The HB and drive pulleys look good, but I'd replace the HB, fer sure - also, as suggested above, I'd suggest scrutinizing the flexplate at the crankshaft hub - been there, done that
The flex plate is the problem... But not the bolts.
The flex plate snapped around the crank! The crank part looks okay from my limited view, but I need to get a new flex plate to bolt up.
... Also do I need to drop the tranny to get the torque converter out?
Believe it or not this is the first issue I have ever had that necessitated fiddling with an auto tranny. My first choice is manual shifts if available.
Thanks for the info to get me on the right track guys!!! I did not know a view window was even there, granted I took off the exhaust crossover to get the cover off.
And you were going to order an engine....See find the problem first. There are mechanics and then there are parts changers.
Mechanic: Diagnosis the prolem then fixes it.
Parts changer: Keeps changing parts until problem goes away If lucky that happends before customer is broke(BTW this is most stealerships.)
