Stumble/Surge

Some how when you Google pmd problems, Walts site come up first. It did when I first looked.

He will never get any more of my business, I wouldn't even give him the sweat off my bawls.

PMDs

PMDs sold installed on FSD Heat Sync kits part number ssd-006 and ssd-001 starting with serial number 6000 and higher installed and maintained in accordance with the instructions are warranted for a period of two years from the date of purchase, to the original purchaser. PMDs sold separately and installed by the customer on our FSD Heat Sync are warranted 12 months. PMD's installed in the stock location (pump) are warranted 30 days and if installed on a device other then our brand FSD Heat Sync or not installed as per the instructions we supply, voids any and all warranty. Warranty is limited to replacement only and after inspection of the returned product. A photo of the installation is required to process a claim. Removal of the PMD from the FSD Heat Sync kit voids any and all warranties.

I just went to his site for the first time in a few years, he does claim a 2 yr warranty on his kits. My warranty wasn't good for 5 months.

I dont know what his warranty is, but the FS PMD is one year from the factory. If you have it in writing he said two years then you "might" have a case with your credit card co (its a long shot).

Let me know if I can help with a new one.

I did look at your site as a possible source for a new PMD, but ended up purchasing one locally. It's a new grey Stanadyne and I'll be remote mounting it in a few days, as soon as the extension cable I had to order arrives. My basic plan is to mount it on Walt's heat sink, and to move his heat sink from the intake location he insisted upon to a better location. I'll have to do a little studying of the truck to pick a good location though, since all the "standard" remote mount locations outside the bay are already occupied by other tings on mine. (Lights, horns, sirens, aux oil & transmission coolers, etc.) I'm thinking that getting it into the path of the intake airflow wouldn't be a bad idea. That would give it at least some airflow over it even when sitting just idling, and this truck sits idling a lot.

I had a dream lastnight that I killed a rat like the one in your avatar with a 2x4 . It was gross, its eyeball popped out.

Make sure to get it completely out of engine bay, intake is still in engine bay. Behind front bumper is very good.

Behind the bumper is already spoken for by my extra horn and a remote speaker for one of the radios. Hell, maybe I can move the PA speaker over a little and mount it up there in the lightbar. :D

Hello Bernie,.

I also have build my PMD now behind/under the Bumper ...this is really the best Place!Previously I could on my Cooler where the PMD was mounted fried Eggs....now is it much cooler....

I know not how many PMD the other have fried ... I were 5 Pieces in 10 Years and that's also enough for me...:D

(I do not know where Walt buy his Parts... but I have also Problems with his Parts....)

Best regards
Gunar

As I said though, best place or not, there's simply no room back there anymore, so it'll have to be a different location.

Do you have the other stuff under and behind the bumper, or in the nostrils?

In the bumper directly behind the front plate. Horn on the passenger side of the centerline, speaker on the driver's side.

I'll find a way to get it mounted, even if I have to build a mount for it up inside a fender.

maybe you can get Simon aka Bison to post a pic of his mounted in the pass fender in the air stream. It's on here somewhere but would be hard to find

That's exactly what I'm thinking of doing, mounting it inside the right fender.

Hi Bernie,

Mounting on the right Fender....?
It is your own Decision...
(...but 5 PMD is enough for me...)
Not do it..!
I have built it to different Places - on the Intake Manifold- on the right Fender- on the right Fender with a Computer Cooler... but nowhere it was so nice cold such as under/behind the front Bumper!
It is also warm, but not so much...

Greetings..
Gunar

Well, if I could figure somewhere else to mount the horn and speaker that's already in that location then I'd do that.

Here ye go, PMD in the pass side fender, cooler is right in the intake air flow, been there 2 years no issues.

Here's how my HD one mounts:

The upper "tabs" in teh heat sink plate can also be used to mount it to the bottom of the bumper where the air dam bolts would be. You can see the mounting holes (tabs) in the bumper if you look closely in the picture.

I rather have it the location i have it,if needed, swapping PMD's would be a breeze.
I'll be 50 mls down the road again before you even got started cleaning the mud off ;)

Maybe, maybe not.

If I get the service from Bill's pmd setup he claims, you'll change your pmd a couple times before I even have to think about it.

The warranty is 7 years and Bill said he's only ever had to exchange one in that period. He claims his usually last 10 or more years.

Probably a combination of the pmd being a new part, redesigned pmd, the mass of the sink, and the location.

So while you're sitting by the side of the road swapping out a pmd, I'm just motoring on by.

Of course, thats IF I get the claimed service from it.

There's no real garantees of anything in this world of suspect parts suppliers anymore...

(not talking about bill, talking about parts manufacturers)
