The wait to start light and the rest of the dash lights have been slow to come on when I turn the key. The problem didn't keep me from starting the truck.

The starter seemed to turn slower and slower then not at all over a few weeks finally it stopped working period.

I took the starter to auto zone and had it tested they sad it was bad so.... I replaced the starter hooked up the batteries and sparks flew and the starter turned the engine!
(The negative connection turned the starter not positive)

When I took the first starter off There were two wires connected on the starter a big one (Battery cable directly from pass side batt) and little one I had to repair the little one.

My truck is in my sig

Please help
sorry if this post is longwinded.

The neg. connection just completed the circuit.
Your ign. switch or starter sol. are bad. Remove the small wire from the sol. and see if you have voltage. There should only be voltage in the start position.
If there is voltage then the ign. is bad or a wire is shorted. No voltage points to a bad sol.

I reread your first post and with the dash light problems I'm leaning to an ign. switch.

I bet you have a stuck solenoid - defective rebuilt starter. If it is off the truck have it tested.

Well the problem is solved! The small wire was touching the battery cable.
The cable has a tear in it I put electrical tape on it but I think the jacket around the cable burned off. it's not touching the turbo but it is close enough.

Thank you for the help.
