Starter issues ‘94

You guys do realize your using a relay to run basically another relay
pre-96 doesn't have a relay for the crank position. the wire is direct from the switch to the solenoid of the starter. the idea behind this is to eliminate the amp draw from the starter solenoid off of the ignition switch. Ford did this with their famous "steal me" junction with an extra low current solenoid on the inner fender LOL

very true, but the solenoid does draw more current than a relay. all this setup does is save on the contacts in the switch especially when there made of chineesium nowadays LOL

That will work, personal I would go with something like this so you can mount that fuse right on the firewall next to the relay along with it looking like a factory install!

I would use a 10 ga fuse holder.

When I did mine I used the inline fuse Big T posted. I put a 5/16 eyelet on one end and a relay connector on the other end. I was mounted right by the power distribution center.

The Powermaster starter calls for a 10 ga. Exciter wire. I would imagine for good reason

That would be an additional load on the ignition switch. Regular load without a starter relay isn't a good thing

So, the normal solenoid wire is the signal wire to turn on the relay switch, the relay switch battery terminal, in turn transfers the power to the solenoid.

If you're working on a 1996 it should already have a starter relay in the underhood fuse box.

If the wire is under sized for a Powermaster starter.

You could pop the wire out of the relay socket and replace it with a 10 ga. Wire
Oh yeah, good plan. I’ll check that out.
Or, I could have a relay, run a relay thats running a relay.
HHHMMMmmmm, that sounds way too complicated and more to have to diagnose in case of trouble. 😹
Yeah, it does have the under the hood relay box.
