starter grinding really bad

Yep, normal to drop hard, but you should sit at 12v engine and glowplugs off, between 13-14.5 engine running.
 
Hopefully this isnt a stupid question for this site but on my battery guage on the dash kicks up to around 10 volts when key is turned on while glow plug light is on when light goes out it goes up to 11 11.5 or so is this good or bad all cables seem tight wut can i try next

That is normal!!! As said above, it takes 2 batteries to start.

Almost 1300 Amps.
 
Again inspect the flex plate 'flywheel'. If all the teeth are present and in perfect shape - replace the starter. Make sure the flex plate isn't bent, cracked, or broken.

I recommend a Powermaster NEW starter as detailed here. Everything else is iffy with known bad solenoids going around that spin the starter motor 3 of 4 tries.
