SSForce Injectors, Feed the Beast and HX-35 to ATT swap

Gotta love when you can enjoy the payoff.

On the 0 psi above 3/4: Are you sure it is not going into a vacuum- is the gauge a 0-15 only or does it read vacuum?

In this instance I wish it showed below 0, I am afraid it could be going to vacuum. The gauge only reads 0-15 and on WOT it pulls the needle down flat against the 0 rest pin.
I had the ECM reflashed by Heath to support my HX-35 about 2 years ago, Paul called it the smoker tune and the ATT brings out the best of it at low end. Not sure how my tune compares to a standard flash from Bill but I sure lose pressure fast if I jump on it, and I wonder if that has part in why I lose pressure so quickly with any throttle. Definitely need to upgrade the LP soon. Wish I knew where to find a money tree.

I would run twin walbro's plumbed in parallel for flow. Assume "0" is a vacuum. Thus tank sock or other restriction is possible beyond lack of lift pump ability. A fuel sump for the tank may be the way to go.

Other pumps leak at the motor shaft seals, short brush life, quickly fail with any biodiesel, and if they are not "flow on fail" you stall the engine about 5 seconds after the lift pump quits say when a wire falls off the bypass relay. Then only thing I have not tried is a mechanical engine driven lift pump, yes, that would be belt drive as the turbo drain makes a 6.2 style also an install challenge. The Mallory 110 GPH Alcohol pump was nuts enough, but, had short brush life...

WW, I have a prototype mechanical fuel pump I built for WVO but could be used for diesel. It uses the oil pump gear drive at the back of the engine.
If interested I'll get a picture. Im sure experimenting and a regulator will be required to run it.

My 1993 has a RPM sensor for the oil pump drive. Does/could the pump include this?

Fun install SS! I like that you and Paul can trt together to wrench on these thjngs, too. I'll be interested to hear what gains are made once you can get your fuel supply taken care of.

I "think" it could. I modified an old 6.2 vac pump. I have seen vac pump/ESS combos to, but can't remember what they look like off hand. I'll get a picture of it tomorrow, its pretty cool.

Its always fun to work on the rig and even better when I have help and Paul's expertise. I'm looking at LP upgrade options right now and once I scrounge up a couple bucks ill be putting a new one in.

I still have plans to try a boosted 0-60 with the ATT to see how the times measure up against the hx. I gotta say both turbo's are great options for our rigs, just depends on what you are looking for. The hx spooled up just like my old gm-x, throttle response was immediate and the truck took off. The ATT thinks about it for a minute but once it lights I get the same performance with half the boost, not to mention cruising boost, still need to plump in the egt probe. FInal test will be getting the added fuel from the upgrade LP and possibly a test tune to support the ATT.

Did you measure drive pressures at all?

Kudo's for doing this. What size HX35 did you have on?

Drive pressure is not something I have been monitoring, I'm kinda running out of room in the cab for all the gauges I have :D. The holset I had on before hat the 14cm housing. Not sure of any other sizing. Truck is still running great, waiting to finish this tank to get some fuel mileage numbers.

Thanks for the Kudo's. With all the recent talk of what turbo is better I figured I would give em both a shot.

I know everyone loves photo/video better than words so I thought I would upload a small clip of what my fuel pressure looks like at idle and off a light with the stock LP and FTB installed. I barely get into it near the end (about half throttle) and you can see how fast the pressure drops, Also, I think I have a small diesel leak on one of the passenger side injectors, There is a little diesel trail on the frame under the turbo, I brushed it off at first thinking it was residual from the injector and feed the beast swap but that was a couple weeks ago now so I will have to get under and see whats going on, Had one of those lines come loose on me before when coming back from vacation. Anyway here is the clip

Of course it is on the passenger side...who worked on that side anyway...never mind.
I'm home for the next few weeks so swing on by if you like and we can sort out the leak.

Thanks Paul, wasn't trying to point fingers haha. :) It looks to be the last injector line on the pass side. Same one that came loose on vacation a couple years ago. Not sure what it's deal is, hoping to see if I can throw a wrench on it after I get home today. If not I will be heading your direction soon.

After Filling the truck up on Saturday the fuel mileage wasn't exactly what I expected. Granted I have a decent leak, heavy foot (really heavy for this tune and turbo) and I was towing a trailer with aerator in it for about half the tank, got just over 13mpg. Not super thrilled but then again I'm sure once I fix the leak and drive the truck unloaded I hope to report better.
