As the title states. I was looking into getting marine injectors because my originals are beggining to fail. Are the ones from SS diesel supply any good or should I look elsewhere? Thanks in advance.

just my observation, but...Most on this site would not recommend SS diesel for your 6.5 needs...probably lots of good reasons for it ...

You want genuine Bosch, Stanadyne or AC Delco injectors, ssd injectors are an off brand if I'm not mistaken.

I have them in mine and they work fine. Bought them and some other performance items before finding this site. Some people here have issues with Walt; those forever glow plugs come to mind. I did have three of those burn out and he replaced them.

IMO & experience getting new name brand nozzles & having them set to a specific pop pressure is the only way to go new or rebuilt use a Bosch or Delphi & check em before you install em. Most vital part of our beloved rattling diesel motor that can make it happy or kill it silently...

Supersport01 how do u tell when ur injectors start to go???? I just got my truck a couple months ago and no idea how long my injectors have been in there.

100k miles is about the limit. some people go longer but its not advised because eventually they start peeing fuel instead of atomizing it and they can burn a hole in your piston

The marine injectors are over-rated, i put them in my truck(before i found the forums). They did not add any noticable power and mileage did not change at all. Listen to these guys and buy only genuine bosch, stanadyne, or delphi injectors. And do yourself a favor and have them pop tested and balanced before install.

If you plan to tow, marine injectors aren't the best idea.

Not saying you can't tow with them, just that it will be harder to keep the EGT's and ECT's down. You'll need to be a lot more restrictive with your right foot to keep 'em down.

As to SSdiesel; no personal experience with 'em but I haven't read very many good things on this board about the guy......

Thanks for the replies. For the price I probly will get these from SSdiesel. Orrum to answer your question... I just replaced the injection pump @118K miles with a brand new GM 2000 model pump. My truck now has 120K miles and is hard to start, white smoke for a bit after start up, and just plain louder than it used to be.

I assume you had the pump timed to -1.94 degrees and are you sure your glow plugs are ok? I was in the exact same situation, brand new injection pump and my truck started to smoke white on start up so i changed my glow plugs to a good set of bosch duraterms ... Turned out all 4 of them on the turbo side were burnt right out.

Good luck with that decision as others have said SSD has not been considered to be a good source for best customer satisfaction, but your $$$. Are injectors where you really want to save $$$, ramifications of a bad set are expensive. before laying down $$$ on injectors go through your glow system, which are required even in summer for best starting.

"Brand New High Performance Marine Injectors. Adds 40hp to your 6.5 diesel. These high quality injectors are re-manufactured in the USA to true marine specs."

I never saw an improvement in Horse power or performance or anything else with the ones I purchased. They were Delphi units but since they were 're-manufactured' it it anyone's guess as to what was in them. After $450 for his stuff, $300 for another clown's re-manufactured "Bosch" units (not), I would have saved money going with new units from Heath. Vote with your $$$ though.

6 of the glow plugs, what I could get to without removing the turbo, have been changed. The old ones didnt look bad though. I have random missfires/pops/studder at idle and low rpm now which makes me believe the injectors are bad. Esp since the new injection pump, lines, ftb.

New new or new to you glows, if new to you; did you test the glows, resistance reading tells only part of the story.

Best way to know they are good is to energize them 12 ga wire around body to gnd then while holding with pliers (they get hot) put spade to pos terminal on battery you should have a healthy glow tip to center in about 4 sec max. If taking longer than that time to be looking for new ones.

6 out of 8 is just a partial replacement, need to check the other 2 it can make a difference.

New IP or new remanned IP? if so remanned from where?

When you replaced the IP how did you time it ?

Inj could be an issue but lets check other stuff before ordering a set.

I have seen the insides of walt's "marine" lnjectors. Chineese garbage. Cheap materials not heat treated properly.I wouldn't trust any of walt products. Not to mention his unproven BS claims of increased HP.He will never get any more of my money.
