Well 300 miles later and the brakes are just fabulous. Not after some fiddling around with the 'self adjusters'... More like 'do it yourself adjusters'... 
She'll haul her little ass down to a stop in no time.
The tire imbalance I *thought* I had is now gone. Wonder why that is? Hmmm.
Overall the axle rotates more freely than before. No longer on a bind. Making my way through the first full tank of diesel for this teeeruck, so MPG's will be forthcoming in a thread somewhere here on TTS.
New Timken bearings and seals in the hubs now. Reset the clock from 212k back to zero now.
