Speciality Tools For The 6.2 - 6.5s

home made Inj pump turning tool and nut wrench:

Just some bent up round stock, a bit of work with the welder, an old grinder handle and a spray of black engine enamel.

Machined myself a socket to hold the 5 degree turn gear wrench head (reverses by pulling it out and turning it around), a bit of round stock, another couple passes with the MIG, an old tool handle and another shot of black enamel.

No reason home made tools can't be functional and look good!

Great thing is, now I can adjust the pump on my 98 without removing anything except the upper intake horn. I can even get to the nuts with the dual stat housing and the AC pump in place. I just shaped the tools very carefully.

I also have a 17mm flex head gear wrench that lends a hand from time to time:

For OBD1 only [94-95] Laptop computer, GMTDscantech and Engh Motors connecting cable

This is a must have for the 94-95 6.5 TD trucks and vans. This scanning software package is the only scanning software available that works on the 94-95 obd1 6.5td trucks and vans. It show 6 sensor readings at a time on 1 screen, can take a snapshot of all sensor readings, test glow plug control, test throttle control, test transmission shift control, test transmission hydraulic pressure control, set injection timing, set top dead center offset and a few more things. It will do what a $3-4000 Tech 2 scan tool will do and more for a whole lot less money.:thumbsup:

Oil Pressure Sender/Switch Socket

KD Tools 3458 You need one of these often if you don't use a AC Delco sender/switch or have a relay set-up or eliminate the ops from the lift pump operation.

Vertronics Tech 1A Scan Tool

This is the scan tool that the stealers used from 82- 95. There was different cartridges for different years and different functions untill they came out with the update-able mass storage cartridge. It has a very small screen. It will do the timing and tdco on the 94-95 6.5s and several other tests.

As above, Injector Pop Pressure Tester

I bought this one from peachparts [a mercedes-benz parts place]. The line from the pump to the injector didn't fit the 6.2 -6.5 injectors. I used a old injector line from a 6.2. The blue box is a large assortment of different thickness shims to set the pop pressure with.

Not just a 6.5L tool, but a door spring compressor for doing door hinge pins. So many trucks need hinge pins.

Body shop can do their good deed for the day OR use the best tool of all to have those with proper tools help you out:
