I just took a glance at the reference library to see if anyone has done a tool thread. I didn't see one so, I thought I would start one and then one of the mods could put it in the library. I'll post up the tools I have that get mostly used on this body style truck and these engines. If you know the brand and number of your tool put that with it. If it is home made , some directions on how to make it would be great. If you have a different brand of the same type tool as shown post it up also. I make some of my own and I modify other tools to work for what I need. Show us what ya got.

OTC 7249 This works great for the lower ball joints and works great for u-joints. This is the basic set. There is a kit with more adapters that you can buy. This case has the storage space for that additional kit

Interior And Door Panel Remover

These 2 tools work good for removing trim and door panels. Also for removing the rubber flap on the inner fenders. The flat one is a Grip 22120. The other one with the red handle didn't have any numbers or brand on it.

Injection Pump Wrench And Injection Pump Turning tool

The wrench is a customized 15 mm box end wrench. It was heated to take the offset out and to bend the radius. The lower nut on the passenger side of the Ip requires a wrench like this. The turning tool is made from a 12" piece if 3/8"x 1" bar stock. I drilled and tapped the holes to match the holes in the IP. They are 3/8" bolts. I had to grind a radius between the bolts for clearance.

The only specialty tools I´ve used have been a ground down allen wrench with an extension duct taped to it to remove the PMD from the IP and a OPS socket. Oh and the paper clip resistor remover.

Customized Wrenches

I've cut and welded a 13 and 15 mm wrenches for different things on theses trucks. The sway bar end links on trucks with the stamped steel lower a-arm requires one of them to get inside the a-arm to hold the bolt head to tighten it. The other ones have had the open ends ground thinner for access to hold things like the bolt-studs on valve covers. A regular open end wrench wont fit to hold the stud while turning the nut. I buy cheap sets of wrenches for just this purpose.

Turkey Basters

:WTF:Yep, that's right ,turkey basters. I have 2 of them in my tool box. One for sucking brake fluid out of the master cylinder when changing brake fluid and one for sucking the crud out of the fuel filter/ manager when changing fuel filters. A very large syringe with a piece of hose will work for this also.

Pitman Arm Puller

This is a pitman arm puller. It may take more than just this to get the pitman arm off the steering box. No brand or numbers on it. This may work to push tie rod ends out of the steering knuckle and center links also.

Tie Rod And Ball Joint Seperators

These work for getting the tie rod apart from steering knuckle and center links and for seperating the ball joints from the steering knuckle. They will most times damage the rubber seals on the joints so it's best not to use these unless you are replacing the joints.
You use a bfh with these. You can get these that go in a air hammer.
