So I'm minding my own business and I get a code 88 error - TDC Offset Error..

Glad to hear the good results Rob. Been following all the way. I thought you had the Tahoe for sale though. Change of plans?

Tdco can be set by doing the KOKO method. With out a scanner you have no idea where its set tho...

Not always. It seems to work on 96-99 OBD2 trucks, but I have personally tried it on a 00 3500 dually with a 6.5, and verified it did NOT work on it. I was able to do it on my 95 with the origanal EPROM, but with my upgraded EPROM from GM, it wouldn't. And I had a friend try it on his 94, and it wouldn't work on it.

Great info

I do believe that once you have done one of these and thrashed about a bit that it's far easier the next time.

The last time I did one was a looooooong time ago, and was with a borrowed Tech1 tool

For a total newbie, this can be a daunting task.

Your purchase of the GMTDSCAN was a great investment, and saved you a buttload of grief dealing with a dealer/shop

Trying to get a dealer to set the timing at anything other than factory specs is tough, if not impossible.

Glad it's all hunky dory now.

A big thanks to the folks at ENGH motors for coming up with the scan software for these critters.

Hi Mike!

It's kind of you to notice! It's "not quite" for sale yet, as I have been busy and I'm still struggling with letting it go. I know that it would be really difficult to buy anything like it, i.e. a mint-condition, lifted and built, turbo diesel, short-wheelbase 4x4 with lots of toys... everything from real air train horns to a custom stereo system.. that gets 16-17MPG on the highway... cruises comfortably on the freeway at 70MPH, can run biodiesel and goes 0-60 in 9.5 seconds. It is fun to drive, and has lots of room to haul things. I'm just struggling with it all.

So, my patient wife just smiles and soldiers on, although she would greatly prefer I buy a land cruiser, sell the Tahoe and call it a day.

I have been looking for a 2 door hoe forever, and can't find a diesel that's not thrashed

Heh, I see 6.5 diesels running around pretty often.. They are usually either Suburbans or more-likely pickups... and yes, they look totally thrashed. Most of them I see are usually running daily duty as utility trucks or as haulers for landscaping or construction businesses. They are usually really dented and beat up and blowing black smoke, but they are still wheezing along... I haven't seen ANY diesel Tahoes for quite some time...

Well, that's because no one likes them, and other bad stuff like that. And uh, you should make your wife happy and sell it to uh...ME. Yeah that's the ticket, sell it really cheap to me, I will help you out of this bad bind you got yourself into.:drool5:

Ya know how fast I could ditch our 01 gasser burb for that ride...AND my wife would be more than happy to drive it-finally getting her hooked on diesels.
