ok guys i have a 98 gmc sierra 2500 6.5 f vin 4x4 i got off work this morning let the truck warm up for a little bit drove like 2 miles to my destination i was sitting in the truck with it idleing all the sudden i watched my viltage drop and continue to drop then everything just shut off like someone unhooked the battery truck has all new ignition switch so i turned the key off then back on glow plugs cycled on everything seemed to come on as ususal then same thing happens again so i wait another few seconds turn it back on and truck fired right back up volts went right back to where their suppose to be any i deas on what the cause would be?

Sounds like a loose dirty connection, have you cleaned all the grounds, the ones on the battery & chassis lately ??

Maybe get under the hood and wiggle the wires around the fuse panel, also the alt may be heading south, do this only occur at idle ??

So far it has only occured at idle i will do as you say and check and clean all grounds and connections the alternator is fairly new about 5k on it shouldnt it keep the truck running even when theres a battery connection problem

I replaced the ignition switch, the tumbler, and the turn signal switch (that about everything in the column) and it seems to have worked. We got bad weather again so I haven't been out to see how it's working. I had that inexplicable shut down too. Ign Sw was $140, but the turn signal sw was only $40. The new key tumbler was only $20 too.

I tightened all cables and cleaned grounds seemed to have fixed the problem ive had a check engine light in for awhile now for turbo boost sensor circut a rng perform can anyone tell me what this means and what i need to do to fix it

I'm having difficulty with the configuration of the two heavy AWG wire that bolt to the Positive Terminal on the right battery. Someone "messed" with the end on the right battery. The left battery connector has the correct terminal; it's a flat washer type that's obviously supposed to go under the terminal for the right battery...but it's very difficult to get started PLUS is the aircleaner of the turbo supposed to be so close? It practicaly touches the head of the screw.

This crazy Winter Weather we're having in March is supposed to be over so maybe I'll be able to get out there and work on it a little.

Check the Maxi fuses. We just had a similar thing. It was blowing the fuse, turned out a wire was shorting out.

The drivers side cable is supposed to go to the + pass. side terminal, then a cable goes to the starter. The air intake is very close to the stud.

Latest development: I put some freon in it and the darn thing started making cold air! lol In all the time I had it I never even thought to charge the A/C. BUT, I took it for another test drive, and while sitting at a red light, the brake pedal is fading away under my foot. What now?
