This is the LH side steering knuckle I mangled by trying to drill out the frozen bolts:
Burned through 3 cobalt drill bits at $25 per. Holes were oblonged. Tried chiseling the bolt heads. Finally opted for used ones from FastJohnny. Even those had marks on two of the holes from using a cutting torch to cut the bolt heads off. Still far cleaner than mine.
Here's a shot of the completed driver's side installation:
New CV axles, upper A-arm bushings, upper and lower ball joints, bearing hubs, calipers, pads and rotors. Drove her around and the stopping is good, but need to have my son take it in for alignment. That was a major job and I don't plan on being in there for a long while. After seeing how bad the front was, I'll probably have to redo the rear brakes too. Just to get rid of all that rusty crap from the snow belt which was home for this truck.
