Sad PMD Story

FWIW even the Heath ones fail. The one on my 2000 died about two weeks ago on the new owner. Bill is warrantying it for the new owner of the truck no issue but unfortunatly he didn't realize(even though I did tell him) it was still under warranty and he already bought another one from Accurate but he will now have a spare from Bill. As MGW said, carry a spare. They most likely die sooner or later

And some people question why I went to a DB2. The best place to relocate your PMD is the trash can!

Well, for the most part even 2-3 years out of a part that can be changed in minutes for about 200$ is not the end of the world for what the DS4 can deliver. How many Ford gasser owners carried around a spare elec ign box in the late 70s early 80s right ? Could have put an aftermarket ign system on but it wasn't that big a deal.
When they work, they work quite well. How many vehichles not equipped with cruise can you just change the TS and have cruise ? Can't do that with a DB2.

Having owned several British cars with Lucas components for over 25 years, I know all about unreliability. On my cars that the family drives, I like things that work well all the time, not just when they want to. I would suspect any drive by wire car would be very easy to add cruise to. Adding cruise to a DB2 equipped 6.5 is cheap & simple.

I like reliable technology as well as anyone. What I don't like is breaking down on the side of the road. If I still had the DS4, I would carry a spare PMD or two, but the DB2 seemed to offer more reliability for me. On my Mini, I have an electronic ignition distributor, but I will carry a complete points distributor in the boot. While my motorcycle has (normally reliable) electronic ignition, its modified to have a second ignition pickup in case the first one fails. And I carry a spare ignition module with me as well. I even carry a spare tube, patch kit, air pump, first aid kit and sometimes a spare tire on my bicycle. On long trips, I carry a spare alternator in the Suburban. I plan on getting back home!

I keep a spare drumbrake front end, carb, 3 driveshaft setup mech window regualtors, Spare batts, spare pull cord to pull start the motor ,squeegie on a stick in case WW fail etc.....Spare boot nailed to a stick(emergency brake shoe, standard equip on re 60's Macks...)Got my two horses with the buggy on stand by...

You crazy buggers never heard of AMA (CAA, AAA, GoodSam, Autoclub, etc)?????

I carry my card and a cell phone. :D

Sad part is the incompetent morons at Lee's Auto Ranch in ellington CT left the Inj lines loose on the Lemon when I drove it outta there and I didn't capitalize on that. All I would have needed as a little on the nice hot turbo and my problems would have been solved. Guess I don't have any balls anymore.
