Running Hot

So replace the thermostat with a new AC-Delco unit.

Then you want to remove the grille and unbolt the oil coolers to clean the mat of crud that builds up there.

You don't need to spend the money on Heath stuff as it can be found elsewhere cheaper.
A 20" 9 blade steel fan and new fan clutch from 1998+ will do the job well over the factory garbage 6 blade fan and likely shot fan clutch covered in it's own blood crust. Dmax fans can require the fan shroud to be trimmed.

Next step is to pull and clean the radiator as it plugs up with debris - the outside. The inside could be another mess.

HO water pumps are also an improvement.

x2 with t-stat.

Also, make sure that it is installed in the correct direction.
It seems obvious but somebody bought a truck and it has temp issue.
Turned out the t-stat was backward.

Well that was what I was thinking too. I'll have to order a new thermostat, and I haven't seen any of the fluid on the clutch but I know it's time for a new one. Well you know when you look at a gauge everyday for 8 months, then one day it's reading different it makes you worried. I'm just going to have to tear into this thing when I get off of this job and get somethings back up to snuff

HO water pump from the 2000 model plus the Dmax fan. Been good for me. Get the Bosch model water pump from Rockauto for $125. Fan is like $52. All sorts of different clutches available. These were some of the mandatory (for me) mods we did on my son's '94 that we recently bought. Thimgs like new injectors, remote PMD, HO water pump with spin on fan clutch, Dmax fan, Diamond Eye Exhaust, mandrel bent cross over, gauges are what I consider almost to be mandatory mods on these trucks. Then prgrammed ECM and an A Team Turbo are nice to haves.

Like said in other post, no need to but the kit from anyone, the parts can be found easy enough. When you get it all done and start bleeding the air out, start at the valve on the neck, then if the system is full, crank it and idle it up some, leave the cap off when the stat opens mash the top hose a few times forcing the air into the rad and let the air flow out without pressure in the system... My no pressure system took a while doing this to get the air out, but there isn't any pressure in my setup ??
