Is there a way to calibrate the RPM gauge, I know the feed comes from the alternater. The bearings went in my old one and just got a reman replacement, and new belt. Now at 65 mph the rpm' s are reading at about 23-2400, before I changed it would read it at 19-2000. If knew that the pulley's were a different size I would've taken the one off the old one before I had it recycled.:mad2:

Looks like, that you have to buy a new pulley.
I know, there was a place/site, where you could buy the pulley only, but I just can't remember.
Perhaps another member knows the site or has a "spare" pulley.

Take the wrong part alt back and exchange it for the correct one. Go through every one the store has for the 6.5 till you find the right size. Hint it will be a different size than the one you have.

Next time and maybe even now, look at starter generator rebuild shop local to you. Not much price difference but you get the right parts...

Ya, did that first, turns out the owner is a real dick "nope there all the same" like he knows better :incazzato:, then tells me I took the only one he had in stock (two days before):rippedhand:. I figured that the I'd try here and see if there is a quick fix before i go to the wreckers and find a bigger pulley for it.

As for the rebuild shop the nearest one was 75 miles away, and when i ask for rebuild kit's around here the kid's behind the counter just look at me funny.:mad2:

I'm finding more and more a PITA to try and rebuild anything any more, used to be able to go and get just about any part to rebuild any starter's, alternator's, ignitions. No one wants to stock them parts anymore, when i can get what i need i have to wait 2 weeks to get it or travel at least 75 miles and spend all day in traffic, and deal with every a**h@le there is:mad5:, because all of the good shop's are in the oldest part of town the center. Just even thinking about it I want to just reach down put her in 4 wheel and run them over. Where I live my nearest neighbor is a few miles and the only traffic jam I deal with is the rabbits that decide to try and out run me on the grid.

Thanx anyway.

The unsolder the windings to service this model does discourages many DIY's...

Sorry to hear the shop is NFG.
