RPM Speed

When you buy the AE pro setup for foreign and domestic you are getting above the price a used MT2500 brick is up to ~2000 is going for. SnapOn made up to date cartridges until last year IIRC but you are going to pay close to $800 for each cartridge.

Unfortunately, I don't believe the Engh OBD-I software will work on non-Chevy diesels where the brick will.

Since my father has gotten a 06 Ranger I need to break down and get the AE pro domestic package once I can scrounge up the $.

I have a new tach that was for my boat, it was a diesel too. It goes to 4000 rpm. Is this high enough for the 6.5L N/A engine? I think so.

I think 4000 rpm will be more than enough for your truck. My 6.5 if I really get on her will shift at 3500, and free rev up to... well I forget. A friends 7.3 PSD free revs up to 3800. And the Cummins RPM gauge is limited to 4000 rpm.

Really couldn't see you needing anything higher than 4K. was the boat by chance... a 6.5? Always wanted to see a boat that sounded like my truck:D

Well the boat was a 1964 ChrisCraft Connie 34'. Solid mahogany plank. Original twin 327's. They DID sound sweet but needed rebuilding since they were original. Replaced them with 2 Renault 250HP marine turbo diesels. They were Mack blocks marinized by Renault. Straight 6"s. Can't remember the CID though. Same block they used in the dump trucks.

Damn that thing must have had some balls when it was running at full speed:eek:
