RPM question.

3.42 was the tallest for a 6.5 with an auto, but some manuals got 3.08's. 235/85/16 and 265/75/16 are almost the same height, but the 235 is 30 mm narrower(over an inch). The narrower tire reduces rolling resistance. I went from 245' to 265's, and wasn't happy with the braking, switched back after a week and got my brakes back.
 
I'll report back how the truck feels once I get the new tires. I'm debating whether to go cheap and stick with the steel wheels or get a set of aftermarket PYO's or something like that.
 
I bought tires a couple weeks ago. Hancook dynapros. 245/75 16. Load E. They are amazing. I had a set on my 03 tahoe before it got totaled. I don't think I'd get anything else. They ride super nice and have amazing traction in snow and rain. Truck rides way better with the new rubber on as well. I'll snap a pic tomorrow.
 
Just a reminder when going to larger diameter tires 'the 1996 and newer gmt400's' need not only the VSSB calibrated the ABS controller should be calibrated too which would be minus the % of the difference of the tire change.'

When I wan't to squeeze more mpg's I drive slower however there is a noticeable increase in power at highway speeds the 6.5td seems to like too. I run TOYO 295/75/16e which are perhaps the best all around tires my Burb has worn.
