Have a 99 gmc 2500 with the 6.5l td. Installed a new injector pump, lift pump, fuel filter, injectors and pmd box and now it idles rough. Reinstalled the old IP and it idles and runs fine. Installed a different new IP and it idles rough. Any help?

just curious why you changed it if it runs better with the old one.
Wasnt my idea. Boss man wanted it changed. We have 4 of these trucks and have never had a problem changing IP's. Its always been take the bad one out, put the new one in and it runs. For some reason this one wants to be a pain

All 3 came from pensacoladiesel.com. weve never had a problem with there pumps untill now

Unfortunately, everybody who post about similar problem (in this forum or other forum) bought their IP from Pensacola Diesel.
At any rate, if the truck is running good, IP is not a maintenance item where it needs to be replaced.
Rebuild IP is not always the most reliable.

Read their unkind bad google reviews. Your extreme good luck just run out. Good luck getting warranty out of them. Their ability to FUBAR a low tech pump like ours is my shining example to the others in the HPCR world who buy their krap and have serious trouble. New rebuilt parts are not always good parts...

Are your PMD's on Extension cables? The cable I bought from them was garbage they wouldn't make it right after I discovered it was not even crimped inside.
Nope. We dont run the cables any more. Got tired of the going bad for no reason.

Sure sounds like you got a bad reman IP from Pensacola Diesel. Especially since it runs better with the old, "bad" IP put back on it. As @WarWagon said, welcome to the Pensacola Bad IP Club!

I doubt its 2 bad remaned and 1 bad new one from the same company

You made it sound like in your original post and earlier in the thread that you put the original one you took off back on and it ran better than with the replacement IP that wouldn't idle and that you put a second, used IP on and it still ran better than the replacement IP.

As far as NEW DS4 IP's, (actually brand new from Stanadyne, not somebody's reman "New") they are scarcer than hen's teeth and damn expensive, $2,000+ and up, IF you can find one. As far as Pensacola Diesel and their IP's, @WarWagon is 100% right about their shitty reputation with their pumps and lack of honoring their warranty in recent years. There is a HUGE difference in just slapping a new head on a used body core and calling it "remanufactured" or "rebuilt" and actually doing a complete teardown to the casting, mic-ing all clearances and replacing EVERYTHING internal with new parts IF the body core meets wear specs.

There are multiple threads on here about running/pump problems that all came back to the Pensacola IP the poster had bought off of FleaBay/Craigs List/Web, let alone the nasty Google Reviews of them. Multiple bad pumps from them in one order or over a short period of time? Not unbelievable if same tech is doing multiple rebuilds wrong/on bad cores to start with.
