Resetting injector pop pressure

Did you ever find out what Material was used for the shims...I would think brass would be too soft.

Also anyone else have any luck punching them out?

I do it all the time. I use a punch from home depot. It's for tarps
I use stainless shim stock.

Thanks...I love Mcmaste-Carr since there is one about 30 mins from me.

Which shim stock would you use the Full Hard Temper or Soft (Annealed) Temper ?

I would venture to guess its the Hard...as long as I can Punch it out....and then again there is the type of stainless 316,302,301,304...so many choices...
 
Hardend IMO. My understanding is Its alittle bit of an art to find the correct hardness shim to provide the longest life.
 
That true if your replacing the existing shim.
When I punch out a shim from whatever thickness I need, I put it under the original shim. I have taken them back apart 80k later and it showed no signs of wear.

I read all 9 pages and still have no real good source for shims. I see tons of shims on fleabay but not sure if those are the right size for our injectors.
