Remote Oil Filter Kit - Who's

I'm not looking to do the bypass filter just a single remote filter but I wanted to see who's kit to buy. I stopped by Wise Speed Shop today and all they had was a Mr. Gasket one for a small block Chevy, I thought it might work so we took a look at it. The first thing on the paperwork was that it wasn't recommended for Marine or Diesel engines. When I looked at the remote filter mount it had a smaller filter than our trucks use. I know our trucks have an anti-drainback valve or something and I assume that's why they say this one is not recommended.

I figured the kit would just have the adapter that screwed onto the nipple coming out of the block and then move the same filter to the remote mount. If anybody has manufacturer and part numbers of what they used that would be great.
Thanks in advance

On edit: Sorry 'bout the pic size! Not sure how to resize.

I pieced together a remote mount. Plug the following part numbers into Summit's site:

(1) Block adapter #PRM-114
(1) Remote filter mount #PRM1793
(2) -8 90* hose ends #SUM-221322
(4) -8 1/2" NPT adapter #SUM-220847N
(2) -8 Hose ends #SUM-221302
(1) -8 6ft SS braided hose #SUM-230806

I used a piece of 1/8" angle iron (about 3" on each "L" dimension and about 5" or 6" wide). I mounted it almost directly under where my feet are when in the drivers seat. I also used a piece of rubber gasket material between the iron/floor pan and iron/mount to cut down on vibration.

Thanks for the info Dennis, I hadn't thought about just going thru the floorpan with the mount.

Yea, it makes it really easy to change the filter. I got tired of trying to hold a plastic bag over the filter as I unscrewed it.

My attempt to resize the pics did not work - I'm sorry - We have instructions on how you can resize, I'll see if I can find them for you.

Pics re-sized. The easiest way to re-size pics is with a free program called Irfanview (no kidding, that's the name!) You can get it at www.irfanview.com

Very simple, very quick, lots of features. If you re-size things before you post them into your albums, post them up on flickr or other hosting sites, or attach them to your posts, it saves you both bandwidth and a lot of time.

Thanks Jif for the picture resize, that's much easier on the eyes. Not as easy as Mad Maxx's avatar but easier nevertheless.

Thanks everybody for the help!

Yes, the brass fittings/ss lines go to and from the oil cooler.

The ss lines attached directly to the spin-on adapter go to/from the remote filter mount.

If I was able to re-size the pics (on my computer) before uploading them to my albulm here on this site, what size is recommended? I uploaded those pics directly from my computer to this site - I guess that's why they were so large.

I set most of mine to 640x480 - that fits for olde guys (with olde eyes) like me who run screen resolutions of 1024x768, but I think the site limit is 800x600.

BTW- I re-sized yours to 640x480 and attached them to that specific post, didn't mess with the ones in your album.

I actually dont mind how you have your pics. I like being able to see what I'm looking at.
Nice install. I'll snap some pics of my amsoil I installed yesturday.

Dennis, thanks for the part numbers. I punched them up on Summit and that is probably the way I will go. I like the 90's that you used coming off of the adapter to avoid the driveshaft, I saw some other installs that the lines came straight out and the lines were a tad close to the driveshaft.

Midnite, the referrences to the pictures is from the original size before Jif resized them, you had to scroll back and forth and up and down to see the whole content.

Yeah, but you're looking at the re-sized ones... they are less than 1/9 the size of the originals. Lots of scrolling required.

Believe me, us old guys like 'em as big as we can get 'em... but they need to fit in one screen.

Midnite, also is your Amsoil just a remote filter or a bypass unit?
Thanks

Its there dual head, fullflow and bypass. I bought Greg's(lube specialist) used one off his truck, its not amsoil's kit, more of a mix and match of parts, but it turned out good.

The block adaptor I used is just like the one Dennis used, Greg sent me two, the one I didn't use is a higher quality piece(think its an amsoil, mounts like a 4wd adaptor, with a hallow bolt you tighten from the center) the ports come out the side, enstead of the bottom.

I mounted the dual filter head under the drivers seat, behind the transmission X-meber, beside the lift pump.

Mines on a 2wd, I ran the hoses back along side the transmission pan. I'd like to see a pic of how Dennis's runs back, I'm sure its similar to mine, I just wanna see it on a 4wd how it crosses over the driveshaft.

I'll try to get some pics tomorrow.

Sorry, I thought I caught them yesturday afternoon, right after they were posted. I didn't know they were resized already. I agree, I dont like too much side to side scrolling either.

Anyway, thanks Dennis for the pics, even if they were too big. A big pic, is better than no pic. Is a bigger pic worth two thousand words?lol

Dennis, do you think you could get a picture of the hose routing how it goes in relation to the driveshaft? Also for resizing pictures I just use Microsoft picture viewer, you click on picture then resize and another window will open up with options. In there I select "predefined width" then on the pulldown window I select "web large 640 X 480".
Thanks
