Red's F350

Based on the last photo, it looks like there is some soot coming out of passenger side uppipe.

If so, now is a good time to ditch those doughnut style pipes for the IH style bellows uppipe. Can go cheap with Dorman OE doughnut style, or check out RiffRaff for IH bellows.

FWIW, when changing oil, don't buy into the hype of vacuuming out the HPOP reservoir. Not worth the time as this is only about a pint's worth of fluid in a 15 quart system. If anything, take a look at Archoil for an oil change or two.

16 years of topping off 3 different Dmaxes and never a problem. Must be a ford thing.

Yup, definitely a Ferd thing. Too bad that GM did not focus more on a manual transmission, otherwise I would not be driving another Ferd...

And one more thing for while you are there. Get another set of o-rings for the CCV 'doghouse'. At this age, it probably has a fair amount of restriction from oil vapors congealing on the internal mesh. The more restricted the mesh, the more blow-by wants to find other paths out of the crankcase (such as the dipstick tube). Cleaning is easy, just drop it in a can of solvent (mineral spirits, gasoline, etc...). Reason for getting new 0-rings is that the OE ones will likely not come off in one piece, and even if they do, are not good for re-use. Dieselorings<dot> is the go-to source for this sort of stuff on the 7.3.

For the air filter, get rid of that pyramid thing as the creases indicate that it is a restriction and it is collapsing under load. If you want to get a drop-in replacement for what was already done to the intake, get the cylindrical style. RiffRaff has these as well.

Lol one thing at a time, financially wasn't planning to buy another truck for at least a few more years. Unless I come across some money fast the turbo will have to come back off later to fix the cracked exhaust housing and any other exhaust issues. Only in here for the fuel system fix right now, then have to finish the bed.

Oh this thing has struggled with starting. Even with new batts and tested the starter power cable for voltage drop (it was alright) it would barely turn over. Reading up it's a common 7.3 issue so upgraded to a higher end starter. Cranks over at almost the idle rpm now, hell of an improvement.
