Well I must be getting old because I have redone about a half dozen chevy and gmc trucks in the GMT 400 configuration, there was a time I could answer most all question about fitment of parts on them but now I need some help.

The truck is a Silverado and I want to make it a Sierra so I want to put a 94 and up (new style) GMC grille on. Will it bolt right on to all exsisting holes? I was also wanting to run the newer style headlights as there are more option out there for the newer style grille.

I also will be putting new cab corners and outer rockers on for sure, and possibly inner rockers I won't know tell I start the surgery. My question is should I be glueing the panels in or is welding still the drug of choice? I have always welded them in but is glueing more effective?

Last question the bed is a total basket case if anyone knows where there is a cheap 88-98/00 shortbed in decent to good shape (no rust and not a ton of dents, in the mid west area can you send me a PM. The bed on it is a total swiss cheese basket case.

Thanks Blake

No idea on if the newer stuff will bolt up

Panel adhesive is quickly becoming the weapon of choice. Easier to get right, less overhead in welders, wire, gas, etc, and it's impossible to warp panels. ;)

you want to put a 94 grill on a 91? what are the difference in the headlights from those years? Im I lost? I know 88 and 89 had the 4 separate headlights

88-90 had sealed beam headlights(4 lights) 90-93 had the first generation composit headlights, 94-98 had the newer grills with slightly different bumper lights for sure and the headlights stick out more on the newer 94-98 grill. If you look at the grills themselves u will see that the 88-93 grills are more flat on the center bars than the 94 and up grills. I'm just not sure if the holes in core support will line up with the newer grill.

You may have to pick up a front clip from the boneyard to get all the GMC stuff to mount. I'm about certain the core support would be the same for a given year (Chev to GMC) but for the slight body style change in years, I wouldn't assume that they are the same.
